that's two months short of my prediction
hearty soup comprised of pork in chunks, Brussels sprouts, creamy peas, and for thickening, I used mashed potato flour with lots of seasonings
casserole of: grounded smoked ham, over chopped cabbage & German potato salad
dessert: caramel chocolate gelato

potatoe soup and a cheese sausage in an over sized bun with a tossed salad
with ketchup and oil and black pepper dressing

Amen to that. Haven't been to a restaurant in years. As far as I'm concerned, if I never go to another one for the rest of my life, that would be perfectly OK with me. Ain't nothing like home cooking. Nothing.
funny enough, i picked up much of my chefing skills working in hotels/bars where home style cooking was the draw
everything from scratch and all leftovers used
I'd be doing a chalkboard up and it would be "what do i call the soup today?"
sadly, its not common to find that oldschool way outside the house anymore
i thought it was small town, but when I worked downtown Toronto, i got adopted by family restauranteurs all over...the danfourth was very ethnic
i loved it ( I do a decent single act with a guitar)
this thread brightens my day because it reminds me...
a lot of good times around food and music, seeing people enjoy it

very tasty esp after I seasoned it (from now on, I'm using sea salt as it leaves a better flavor than regular salt) - but darn, forgot to include onions!
