Are Native peoples given priority rights in harvesting seals and whales in the Northern regions? After all, they use these as sustenance, not for getting trophies. Therefore, I assume provincial or local government has control over these activities.
I lived in the forest for ten years. I spent more time with wild animals than with humans. I have watched them, observed their habits. Beavers normally eat aspen and poplar. When I saw them eating Jack Pine I asked the Wildlife management people why. They confirmed my suspicions. Hard to produce a link to my true life experiences.
I believe it was seals since the article had to do with seals in the estuaries. Can't recall the volume of salmon that Sea Lions eat. I imagine it is substantial as well just their numbers are not as high.
