Leave it up there, it's free insulation and It will melt someday.

T'aint the snow, it's the ice dams. Not on ours, but, in general.

We recently had the Jan. thaw, and a lot of snow is gone from around the house, and dammit !! I like a thick covering of snow on the ground - the insulation you mentioned.

This cold snap has to stop........going on week 2 now

Isn't winter the proper time for this sh*t to happen? Good thing about minus 40 is it's "bilingual"!

Da Sleeper- Consider yourself lucky, I see the temp. at Hearst is 41C below-:)

Soon as I posted the screen capture, it dropped to 41 here too, but I was too lazy to change it......

Reminds me of a story I heard years ago. Chap phones the weather station and says "Joe Blow here just reporting that I've just done shovelling the 8" of 'partly cloudy' you predicted!

When I first saw the cartoon, JLM I nearly choked on my coffee - it was that apt. Our forecasts have been so far out of whack that I recalled Robin Williams forecast in Good Morning Vietnam - 'and today's forecast - look out the window'.

Just below freezing here and lots of snow.
We've been hovering around freezing here too. When the sun's out, the icicles drip and the snow softens but we haven't had many sunny days lately. No new snow in over a week..........of course now that I've said that out loud a big dump is probably on its way. LOL!

Snow is the gods' way of controlling the elderly male population.

Which is why I hire my neighbour who has a 10 hp snowblower. He does a great job on the deep stuff.

For the not deep stuff we have a push scoop. push and dump. push and dump. I'm talkin snow, eh.

I don't wanna be "controlled" just yet.

It might be but it's a lot better than the "odd" weather we had a month ago..................I'll take more of it.

Looks like last week for here. It was good while it lasted. Each good cold snap is another weeks worth of ice fishing.

CHANCE OF STORMS:
NOAA forecasters estimate a 35% chance of polar geomagnetic storms on Feb. 8th in response to an incoming solar wind stream. Further boosting the odds, Earth's magnetic field might receive a glancing blow from debris produced by the "dark spiral" explosion of Feb. 6th (see the news item below). High-latitude sky watchers should be alert for auroras. Aurora alerts: text, voice.

SpaceWeather.com -- News and information about meteor showers, solar flares, auroras, and near-Earth asteroids

You can watch the weather leave the surface of the sun, some of it gets here, sort of, before it left. The stuff called gravity gets here instantly maybe even a bit sooner, it's always here, the adjustments are imeadiate, immeadiate imeedeeit right now.

Cycled about the city in shorts, a cotton tee shirt and a light wool sweater yesterday-looks like today will be similar-I'll bring a fleece vest along though just in case.

Can wear the same here without being cold. How come? Want me to take a picture of the sun? It's gorgeous, definetly need the sunglasses today.

great weather here on the island, like I said earlier, did some gardening, getting ready to plant

fruit trees.

walked the dog about 2 miles this morning, very mild and comfortable.

some rain during the night, none during the day, haven't had much rain this month.

we usually take the dog out retrieving every other day, but he is recovering from neutering, so
have to take it easy for awhile.

we have worked the dog all winter, in the school field, weather has been mild and very comfortable.

our lawn is growing slowly, but it is growing.

I love the outdoors, hate to be stuck inside, don't have to here, I walk every day, just like JLM,

feels great, I was watching that big snow storm in the east, so glad i'm not there.

my granddaughter lives in ottawa right now, she can't wait to come home, won't be long, she'll be back
middle of may, for her birthday. She has been in ottawa for a year, she loves the city but hates the
weather, although last winter it was different for that area, milder, not much snow.
