Dow surges at the finish in a week of heavy losses

U.S. stock markets tumbled and climbed again, capping a roller coaster of a week that wiped out as much as $3 trillion in U.S. stock market value as investors fled from equity funds.

The Dow Jones industrial average saw a more than 1000-point swing, or close to 4.2 percent, on Friday.

One IMPORTANT thing to keep in mind, O.B.- the money ($3 trillion) loss is only on paper. The actual loss is only on stocks that change hands. By the same token it can go the other way just as easily the following day or week.

Yup. I can make a call and "click" I'm in low risk or "click" I'm in the currency game or "click" I'm in a green fund,"click" precious metals.

Why not you?

I manage my own. No pension, I'll wait till what ever they have old age set at when I get there.

and what YOU mention that is NOT managing trades

But the market may correct a bit, but in the US, its going back up.

Actually more good news than bad!

There's one major difference - that is money most (sensible) people can afford to risk. Comes under the "entertainment" heading! :)
Sensible!

$20 a week in quick picks or $20 a week in stocks.

Which would have paid more over 30 years of either routine?

Mainly depends on who's doing it. A smart person would generally do much better on stocks notwithstanding the chance of 1/14 million.

$31,200 in lotto tickets and nothing to show for it or $31,200 in stocks that paid dividends and gained equity.

That shows that anyone can afford a portfolio.

Give up the $5 a day latte and invest $1200 a year for even more for you future.

Money to invest is easier to come by than you think.
