US airbase Leased from Iraq is sovereign soil just like a consulate, so Iran attacked the US.

The initial attack against the General came from the US within Iraq WITHOUT them even knowing.

Meaning the US used Iraq soil to attack a person of position and Government from Iran.


Putting Iraq in a political and military situation that they shouldn't have been put into.


The US is now paying for that by getting the boot.


Which means they have one less area to work from against ISIS.


Where, exactly, is this all a good idea?

Don't mean to put down your military. Your guys and gals are tough and well trained.

Just that you don't have much power projection capability, and just about no history of aggressive action, except in concert with the Brits or the Yanks.

Hopefully, that is the way it will remain. Frankly, the idea of Canada declaring war strikes me as ludicrous. Going to war will not bring back the 176 dead while condemning more to the same fate.

Our history of ground troops and artillery are legendary, spearheaded every major British offenses in late WW I and all of WW II, formable foe on sea and sky with the limited equipment that we have.

Hate to burst your bubble, TM............but that was then and this is now. We were but participants in a European conflict.

It is not the skill of our troops that is in question rather it is Canada's ability to provide them with all the tools they need to actually fight a war. Fact is, we don't.

Many of them were highly educated and valued members of their various professions and their deaths are felt deeply by all who worked with them. Many of them were university students spoken highly of by their professors. Then there were the wives, the children and the newly weds. I mourn their loss.

Most o f the dead were highly educated & accomplished PEOPLE But you Yanks don't think in terms of PEOPLE.......humanity........you just think in terms of us. vs Them...... and you do the hating with extreme prejudice.......Killing PEOPLE seems to come naturally to the yanks........and yet they claim to be a nation of laws...........what kind of laws ???

You bet. I've got an edge on me, particularly when it comes to CANADIANS on this board who have advocated official, legal, mandatory religious discrimination. Callous and cruel? You bet your ass.
