I see Larry King is up to 4 days now devoted to the useless twit.

Also Rev Jesse Jackson is now wagging his tongue wanting to get to the bottom of it all....

The circus continues....

Probably, but I don't think they lined up at the welfare office.....:lol:

That is a bit of a misconception. For the most part the hippy movement of the sixties was populated by middle class and upper class kids who were disenchanted with the American/Canadian dream. Doing your own thing was about stepping out of the status quo and away from what everybody else expected us to be. It was a search for a new way of being on the planet.

Yes, there were a lot of free loaders, just like today, but there were many who just wanted out of the nightmare of Vietnam, cold war paranoia and crooked politics.

It might surprise you to know Talloola that country music got it's roots from the long suffering slaves of the deep south, like Leadbelly, who wrote and sang about their sorry state in life. This music was the early blues. Early country music singers like Pat Boone tried to emulate the black music but to no avail. It always came across as stiff and sterile. What did Pat Boone know about suffering at the hands of a slave owner?

Yes, and the Carter family were an important part of the growth of country
music as well. They had hundreds of songs in their home, which they had
written and put music to, all their own, and later many others sang that
style as well, very basic country songs, that came from their poor roots, and
time spent together entertaining each other.
Hank Williams 'hung' out with many black musicians in his day, and his songs
reflect that, too bad he died at 29, he was just getting started, he was so
gifted with the written word, but so troubled in life.
Even Elvis combined blues, country and black soul, and it came out in his
own style, rock and roll, although, bill haley was actually the first rock and
roll singer, that I can remember.
Pat Boone was a fake and boring singer, in my opinion.

A Working Class Hero - John Lennon

As soon as you're born they make you feel small
By giving you no time instead of it all
Till the pain is so big you feel nothing at all
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be
They hurt you at home and they hit you at school
They hate you if you're clever and they despise a fool
Till you're so ****ing crazy you cant follow their rules
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be

When they've tortured and scared you for twenty odd years
Then they expect you to pick a career
When you can't really function you're so full of fear
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be

Keep you doped with religion and sex and tv
And you think you're so clever and classless and free
But you're still ****ing peasants as far as I can see
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be

There's room at the top they are telling you still
But first you must learn how to smile as you kill
If you want to be like the folks on the hill
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be

If you want to be a hero well just follow me
If you want to be a hero well just follow me

Hither and yon
The latest info I am seeing on this issue is that the second autopsy is confirming that
Michael was a junky.

Tracks on both arms.
Tracks on both his thighs.
Fractured ribs.
Emaciated.
No food in his system.
Morphine and Dilaudid in his blood stream.
Antidepressant pills in his stomach.

His system shut down.

Michael Jackson is compared to icons in the past. Sinatra, Beatles, Presley, etc.

These past icons left us songs, tunes, melodies, lyrics that we still whistle, sing and doodle and end enjoy.

Name a SINGLE song that Michael Jackson screeched that would bring back similar memories. Sorry, Moonwalk does not cut it.

Response to #85.

Pretty decent lyrics, although the profanities reflect a very, very small mind. And when was he EVER any closer to the working class than Donald Trump?

Now, if only he had had the talent to manufacture a melody to the words and sing them, I would give him his due.

I'm sure that there are people who do that with his music.

....

WOW

It's really too bad.

Too bad Michael couldn't stick to his Jehovah Witness roots

Donny Osmond with his wife and his two dozen kids stuck to their Mormon roots and he is healthy.

Michael Jackson was in the prime of his life and the doctor allowed this and he should go to jail

Profanity also reflects street. John Lennon was a child in WW2 working class Liverpool. You don't suppose childhood and the days before We was fab count for anything?

lone wolfe, profanity is NEVER a reqiurement, and it ALWAYS indicates a small mind.

Did Elvis write any of his songs?

The person from the list who gets the least recognition is George Harrison. I thought he was the best songwriter of the bunch. When the Beatles split up and Lennon, McCartney and Harrison went solo I thought Harrison's work sounded more like the Beatles. His influence is all over the Beatles tunes that were credited to L&M.

Yukon Jackie, what law says popular music must always be politically correct? I would venture to say there are more people on this planet who can relate to street than there are people who can relate to tea parties and silver service.

A small mind? I consider that to also mean one who acts like he is the standard to which the world must measure up.

When we was fab ... a reference to the Beatles. It was in an entire half century....

Kreskin, creating and performing are quite different things. Sometimes a creator of a song is also a great performer of same. But most of the times, the creator thinks that just because he wrote a great song, he can also perfom it. MISTAKE!!

Look at a great songwriter (all the songs he wrote) and totally lousy performer: Gord Lightfoot.

Elvis may have never written a song on his own, but he was a great performer.

Since this thread is about Michael Jackson, I'll say that he was a great songwriter and a performer at the same time. A lot of the songs he sang were written, produced, performed and choreographed by Michael himself. This does not require a debate, because millions upon millions around the world agree with that.

Andem, produce a single title that Micheal Jackson wrote/sang you would sing to your sweetheart.Or your children. Or sing in the shower. Or whistle while you work.

GOOD LUCK!!

Other than moonwalk this overrated clown leaves NOTHING to this world. Let him die a well deserved death. Children will be happy everywhere.
