It seems that several people stop reading that early into these posts, which are going really quickly. So I thought I would re-post this one in the hope that someone could follow up on it.

It is surprising that so many people just won't accept even the obvious science done by local universities and responsible government agencies. And not only won't accept it but won't even risk looking at it. I would be really interested in a discussion about avoidance of AGW, and methods of doing that, as well as adaptation, and means of achieving that. Since it is obvious that a discussion like that can`t happen, although it should, with people unconvinced by the science, could someone start a thread for that purpose. I ask because my computer doesn`t seem able to start threads. Maybe I haven`t been here long enough?

I think it would be good for the scientifically minded to continue to respond to the denialist camp for the benefit of nubies and the unconvinced, but perhaps in the new thread we could just ignore anyone who isn't being conscious.

If you are thinking it is your computer that cannot start threads, perhaps you should revisit "facts" you have been posting:lol:

Taking what I post as an opportunity for some faulty characterization.

You don't say... ;)

What is faulty? The heat waves are local and weather. Using weather as an example had been a No No with the GW crowd... up until now it seems. We are not experiencing anything abnormal in NE. It is summer and it is warm. Just like it always has been.

The article I posted (the new article) simply refers to people's perception.

The article in the OP refers to a parallel in what the symptoms of global warming are like and not that the weather is "evidence" of global warming.

Last fall when I said this summer was going to be a cooker ( I didn't need a model) I warned that the weenies would start putting a global warming face onto these known cyclical anomilies.

Whodda thunk?

Didn't find any graphs, but there is an interesting video that shows lots of food and booze flowing... Will this suffice?

U.N. Climate Change Summit 2010: The Con in Cancun - YouTube

Wow a good time was had by all it seems! Free flowing booze... food in abundance... and did you see those deserts! What sacrifices they are making to make the world less warm!

I bet not a one washes their clothes by hand as their "Home of the Future" exhibit says they should.

In the future the Pacific will be unusually cool for an extended period causing heat waves, droughts and aggressive storms? I thought the oceans were going to overheat and melt off your nylons?

Believe me once that cold wind blows in all will be forgotten. Once that bitter cold wind blows off Lake Michigan into downtown Chicago the local heat wave will be quickly forgotten.

And who is this "rabid" environmentalist? Is he someone we should be hearing from as very likely to be much better informed than you and, consequently, not sititng home with his fingers in his ears at every report on the worsening situation.

Are you better informed? Global weather changes. So do water levels on ocean-front shorelines and phases of the moon. It's a living planet. Why do you want to kill it by stopping her cycles?

Are you up for a 6.5 billion cull to get back to the 500 million people some theorists believe Earth can sustain?

Heck... does he even own a washing machine? I bet he does as well as a dryer.

In America?

No, most in America actually believe the climate is stable and there is no concern.

How silly. Of course the climate changes. It always has... it always will. It is foolish to think we can STOP climate change. Where I live was once under a 1/4 mile of ice!

The overwhelming scientific evidence indicates that global warming is occurring at an accelerated rate caused by hydrocarbon emissions into the atmosphere, and that anthropogenic activity is a significant contributing factor. What we know is that the polar icecaps are melting as evidenced by satellite imagery and decrease in mass verified by physical scientific measurements. We also know that climate change occurs naturally as evidenced by core samples of the earth's surface. However, what we are seeing now is abrupt climate change; which the evidence links to the growth of the earth’s human population and activities over the past 250 years; and, most dramatically, in the last half century. What we know is that there is only a thin layer of ozone that shields the earth from the sun’s rays; and that it is being depleted by industrial emissions into the atmosphere resulting in the rise of the ocean temperature that generates the earth’s climate conditions. Just a small change in ocean temperature will affect the thermohaline conveyor leading to more harsh winter weather, reduced soil moisture and more intense winds in regions that provide the significant portion of the world’s food production, and cause a dramatic decrease in the human carrying capacity of the earth’s environment.

You seem to constantly confuse what I say about other people as something I say myself.

You should get that checked out.
