Everyone who watches the news hears 'fake' news and conspiratorial stories. They don't all go out and start shooting places up.
Put the blame on the idiot who takes whatever he hears as gospel and acts on it.
There's too much 'shoot the messager' these day. Not enough focus on the fools who take the messages seriously.
Even if one does take the message to heart it is no excuse to get violent.

Andy Puzder, 66, has been nominated as Labour Secretary.

He is CEO of Hardee's and Carl Jr fast food joints who has a mix of ideas. Most of the news coverage has focussed on his opposition to the minimum wage. But this distorts his position. He is against a $15/hr minimum wage as disincentive to small business and job creation.

Donald Trump has made some statements that he might support a $10/hr minimum, so this seems to be a matter of what the rate should be rather whether to raise the rate. This is largely a State prerogative, in any case, some States having passed the higher rate, and it is the highest rate of Federal or State the applies. I think splitting the difference at $12.50/hr.. or a $25M/annum might meet living standards above poverty level as the base. All this is critically dependent on developing a system of tariffs that do not allow these jobs to move offshore in response.

Puzder has some more progressive ideas on illegal aliens. He's indicated support of some kind of legal status that would allow them a type of 'guest worker' status WITHOUT a path to citizenship, which would remain open solely to Landed Immigrants who have applied for legal entry from a foreign residence. This would not give and advantage to people who have jumped the cue and entered illegally.

Importantly it would bring the illegals under federal wage and labour laws and prevent their exploitation. It also recognizes that they have become indispensible to the agricultural, construction and hospitality industries. They would not be deported provided they obeyed the law and payed their taxes.

A lot of the other media focus has been on an add that Carl Jr's put out for one of its burger with 3 buxom beach blond bimbos in bikinis promoting the '3-Way' Burger. I loved it. I'm sure Donald did too, just to stuff a Carl Jr. pie in the face of feminists, who were so outraged by his Access Hollywood video.

Yep, believe NOTHING of what you hear and 10% of what you see!

So Rex Tillerson,CEO of ExxonMobil, has been nominated for Secretary of State, the senior cabinet officer.

In some way it's not that surprising. Executives often surround themselves with complements in style and substance. Trump is a quite unconventional entrepreneur who relies on sense impression and processes through his gut. Tillerson is an impressive administrator, who is quite conventional in his political opinions (for a businessman), is fact based and processes things through his head (formulas and systems) as most engineers do. Do not expect an innovator or visionary with Tillerson.

The Russian connection that the Dems (and some Republican NeoCons) are trumpeting as a disqualifying factor is quite minor. Exxon Mobil has revenues of $269 on $363 billion in assets and $16 billion in net earnings. Russia represents almost none of the revenues, but the company lost $1 billion in earnings due to writeoffs of joint venture investments in arctic drilling in Russia because of sanctions.

I'm more concerned with his support of TPP and AGW (and Carbon Credits). But these could have simply represented ExxonMobil's interests rather the America's. TPP is dead, and the Paris Climate Accord is a disaster, even if it wasn't the thin edge of wedge of a far more devastating agenda for an utterly fabricated threat.

There is not much consistency in Trump's selections on these issues.. but he has a affinity for corporate heavyweights and generals. It seems his own views will prevail, though. We'll have to see how those define themselves..

People should just learn to relax and let live. People voted for Trump because he's more trustworthy than Hillary, so let's let him just do his job and see what happens. All the stewing in the world and crying "the sky is falling" isn't going to benefit anybody. Looks to me like he's calling on capable people. I personally have too much other sh*t to contend with than to worry about this sh*t. Justin is actually much more of a threat to us! :)

It surely is going to be an interesting time.
Canada will get picked up in the whirlwind of national interests coming before corporate profits and foreign interests outweighing our own starting with the US which with JT behind our wheels will lead to a win-win relationship. Trump will be able to get along with Israel and Putin already has a good relationship with them.
In the end what happens now will be more important to our grandkids than to us who are the end of the baby boomers.

The best way to be really smart is to live in all the various positions when the rich experience poverty do you think they have the same view when they are wealthy again?? Being willing to make that change on your own is the difference between being a human and being an animal who believes they are the fittest and that should never change to where they are the prey.

Since Kennedy the Presidents took orders from somebody and based on the money the Military got is was in that direction the trail should begin to be followed. Where it ends up is how far back the system is broken. The Military takes orders, they do not formulate them.
Trump coming in is supposed to be the start of a period of prosperity over the next 8 years for America. The Military budget would pay for all the repairs and then some. I'm pretty sure when revamping the Military is mentioned is isn't about building bigger bombs. It could include 'smart helmets' for drivers and passengers who want to have distractions while driving, or 'Joys of multitasking' as seen on TV.

I liked the Kennedys especially Bobby. When he was murdered in 68, I gave up believing in politics.

Yeah, I don't think there's much bad one can say about Bobby. If you read the book "The Last Brother" by Joe MacGiness, it puts old Joe and young Teddy in a far different light. Pair of real A$$holes if there ever was any. Teddy had the blood of at least two people on his hands.

The robber barons would be proud.
They would be if you left 'thief' off their title.
I think it is appropriate but then my thinking is that of all the money ever created by work should still be in circulation today minus a small fee of 6% for banking materials. (they would also print whatever was brought to them in the business end of things) The last century was almost as if they already had full control already but as usual things got out of their control. The UN came out with some basic rights documents and much to their surprise places like Iran and Cuba took them to hearth rather than wait until all the conditions were in place, such as headquarters being in Jerusalem compared to Washington and then the 'good changes' could come in thanks to a certain visible group that were being manipulated from behind the scenes just like it has been for 1,000 years.

Something like the American hostages being left in Iran longer than necessary just so Regan's signing on as the Chief was a bigger deal than it really was. Hollywierd goes to DC cannot be a better program than Successful Businessman goes to DC, no matter how you try to spin it.

If history is still in effect Canadian Troops are allows on US soil in a time of Martial Law, as enforcement as well as bringing trinkets to the Natives. Might I suggest we sent in the barmaids as the first line since it worked so well the last time.
Cheap whiskey and cheaper women has won many a war. Should Trump win we may have to set up a not extradition policy and then it will be better than summer since they will bring all their money this time. The bad news is the vacation never ends this time.Think of any part of the original 'Vacation' movie and that is about how it will really play out.

You bet, especially for lives that are so empty, people have nothing else of importance to dwell on all day (MF, Locust & Cannuck) except to stew about this sh*t. :) :) :)
Not that I should ask but how many levels am I above that (or below) ?? no I do not want to be worse I want to know who deserves mt meds more than I do.
As long as I don't laugh at a human tragedy things are within limits right??

Isn't it great to see the swamp getting drained?
Outsiders with proven expertise in their fields will be a tremendous improvement over the old closed political circle and their cronies who thought they knew best and were running the country into the ground with their self-serving policies.
Yep, reminds me of the good old days when the president of the Ford Motor Company became Secretary of Defense and managed the military so brilliantly that we achieved a thrilling victory in Vietnam.
