I keep reading that they didn't have ANY hotels booked, but have also heard on a video discussing this that they DID have some hotels booked, just not for the entire 5 weeks, as they weren't sure which part of the islands they'd be on while touring around and were going to book on a 'day to day' kind of basis.
The last time I travelled to the US, I was driving from NB to Wyoming. To save money I wasn't staying in hotels at all, but sleeping at rest stops where I could, or staying with friends along the way. Now I wouldn't be able to do that from the looks of things.
The USA is so welcoming now...
