I don't believe any land in BC was ever "ceded" outside of perhaps a few small areas of the island

He's on my ignore list so I'll post these references ....

Haha, that's a good one! Very consistent - NOT: you might say it lacks integrity :)

If you were talking about me are you afraid to say so directly?

... unless you feel the need to have the last word.

No I would just like you to answer the exact question I asked - or explain why you can't. Yes or no would do it, together - of course - with any explanation you feel necessary. But why not a direct answer to this very simple question:

Are you saying that most FN people value the Indian Act and want it left as-is?

Feel free to just say "No, I'm not saying that," or "Yes, I'm saying that."

What did you call yourself last time you were on this forum?
If you think I may have been on this forum before, but can't remember the username, we have that in common. If you figure it out please let me know. But we'd need to get the password as well. And trying to update an account, I've seen the really frustrating message "That name is already in use."

Meanwhile, back at the SNC Lavalin Justin Trudeau scandal, unnamed sources (wink) Liberal operatives leak an interesting story trying to again paint Jody Wilson Raybould as difficult.

Jody Wilson-Raybould recommended in 2017 that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau nominate a conservative Manitoba judge Glenn Joyal,to be chief justice of the Supreme Court, even though he wasn't a sitting member of the top court and had been a vocal critic of its activism on Charter of Rights issues, The Canadian Press has learned.

Well-placed sources say the former justice minister's choice for chief justice was a moment of "significant disagreement" with Trudeau, who has touted the Liberals as "the party of the charter" and whose late father, Pierre Trudeau, spearheaded the drive to enshrine the Charter of Rights and Freedoms in the Constitution in 1982.

The sources spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss internal discussions about a Supreme Court appointment, which are typically considered highly confidential.

For her part, Wilson-Raybould said Monday "there was no conflict between the PM and myself."

In an email, she characterized the matter as part of the normal process of appointing a Supreme Court justice, which involves "typically CONFIDENTIAL conversations and communications — back and forths between the PM and the AG (attorney general) on potential candidates for appointment."

She said she's "not at liberty to comment" on the "veracity" of what the sources said occurred, adding, "Commentary/reporting in this regard with respect to a SCC appointment(s) could compromise the integrity of the appointments process and potentially sitting justices."
And here is how low and scumbag the Liberal Government operatives are.

In a statement Monday, Joyal makes no mention of the former minister, saying he submitted an application for consideration for the Supreme Court in 2017, only to be forced to withdraw his name for personal reasons related to his wife's health.
"I fear that someone is using my previous candidacy to the Supreme Court of Canada to further an agenda unrelated to the appointment process," Joyal said. "This is wrong."
And they said Stephen Harper was a dick.

No I would just like you to answer the exact question I asked ... etc etc
TM: I apologize and take it all back about you not answering my question. Way back at #775 you said "Nope."

Sorry, sorry, sorry!

You get one free insult without response.

OK, two.

Nick Nanos: "Wilson-Raybould and Philpot have become enablers of the Conservatives." You go Nick. LOL

As for making jury composition mirror the ethnic mix of the populace, I see no practical way of achieving that. How many ethnic identities would have to be identified? The mind boggles. I think a case could be made for trying to ensure indigenous representation, as they are the original inhabitants, and especially in cases where natives are involved as accused or defendants. But like many over-simplified issues I find it difficult to evaluate the proposal and even more difficult to visualize its implementation.

All of which means, I guess, that I think JW-R's suggestion is just impossible to work with.

It is apart of a system that they helped develop, they were invited to abolish it in 1967 with the White papers, the FN elite voted against it and reaffirmed it again in 1982 when it was revisited with the constitution.
Ssssh don’t remind them about the corruption of native leadership. Come on we need reconciliation.

Frankly, Dec this whole scandal is long past its due date. I'm fed up with the stonewalling, the innuendo, the sneaking off to the press and letters to constituents. I'm done with that ball-less twerp of a PM who should have booted those two out of caucus weeks ago if only for the sake of the rest of his MPs though their disloyalty should have been more than enough.

I also find it very interesting that just a few days after Philpot's expose in MacLeans, the former AG decided to jump back into the spotlight with hints of more revelations. The timing is suspect.

There is a lot that's suspect with this whole mess. I get that you are not impressed with Philpot ad JWR's disloyalty, but it's quite possible your disgust is misdirected. The more I look at the obvious, overt, and aggressive effort underway to willingly divert ethics and justice to protect Trudeau's narrative (which even now seems to change almost daily), the more I think that it's possible this may actually be certain people within the Liberal party trying to scandalize their incompetent, inept, virtue signalling leader in an effort to force his resignation before the next election.

There seems to be one of two possibilities...either Trudeau is leaking extremely confidential information about Supreme Court applicants to try and discredit JWR, or members of Trudeau's inner circle are leaking this information to try and discredit Trudeau. Either option is bad for Trudeau, and neither is the result of Philpott or JWR's "disloyalty".

Leak detailing Supreme Court appointment rift only shows how little Trudeau’s camp respects the rule of law

“It is outrageous that there is a leak with respect to the Supreme Court judicial appointment process,” Toronto Liberal MP Nathaniel Erskine-Smith told the House of Commons ethics committee on Tuesday. “People from all parties ought to condemn that kind of thing.”
...
“Agree,” replied Senator Percy Downe, who served as Mr. Chrétien’s chief of staff. “Appalling behaviour.”

How much longer will Justin Trudeau be able to keep his caucus and party together, after committing so many missteps? How much more political damage is he willing to sustain to prevent Ms. Wilson-Raybould and Jane Philpott, who also resigned from cabinet in protest, from talking about the cabinet shuffle that eventually led to their resignations?

How much more damage to the integrity of this country’s legal system is this Prime Minister willing to inflict, in his efforts to discredit these enemies he used to call friends?

The former AG needs to walk her talk, integrity and ethics straight into the House of Commons, rise on a point of privilege and tell her version of events complete with documented evidence.

First of all, if the little potato does not give her further leave to speak openly and honestly, there is nothing more she has to add. Secondly, calling her back would simply result in more she said/he said as the committee will most surely recall Geppetto and that quivery clerk of the Privy Council along with any other witnesses they see fit to rebut her testimony - and on and on we go. So no. I don't want to see her recalled to the committee.
She is at the center of this entire sordid affair. The longer she keeps the government on tenterhooks and the Canadian public in the dark, the less she looks like the strong powerful woman she claims to be. Instead, she looks just like any other self-serving politician playing the game for their own narcissistic ends.

Wilson-Raybould calls herself a 'Truth Teller' well let's hear it.
There is good reason they refuse to testify under oath, they're guilty of criminal activity.

Canadians would put this to bed if they made that moral leap and we're willing to risk criminal charges and sacrifice their freedom in order to clear their names.
