Re: Canadian PM Trudeau: We Won't Attack ISIS Even if Bombed

I was responding to DamnGrumpy the forum dingbat.

I know. As I was reading it, it went something like this:

Huh?
US History books say WWII was from 1942 to 1945
What? Has Smack lost his mind?
Then:
Oh wait, he's asking that as a question. Never mind.

That's what DG stated along with some other asinine things.

Yes, well folks live in their little bubbles and the odd asinine comment suddenly becomes fact. The facts are this, the PM is pulling the F-18's for optics, but my guess is that he will sacrifice our foot soldiers in a heartbeat and spin that.

Pisses me off when people make generalizations like this. Sort of like Boom shooting his mouth off about the Canadian Military. It comes from a lack of knowledge. While our military is small, they have risen to every challenge and made great sacrifices. And will continue to do so.

I'm just going from a recollection years ago, a brother-in-law (now deceased) had told me he had served in '42 in Italy as a sniper and he had met American soldiers there....?

The US was in North Africa before the invasion of Sicily then the Italian mainland. Gen. Eisenhower was in charge of the Sicily invasion and the whole US 7th Army was there. But in 1942 the US were already fighting defensive and offensive battles in the Pacific.

Without a question they have and have only been restrained by the politicians who call the shots.

U.S. got into it Dec. 7 1941. Perhaps the forum idiot can also enlighten us where we'd be today if Churchill hadn't intersected Hitler on Sept. 2, 1939.

Didn't the American forces enter the war to a limited degree in Italy in 1942 ?

America was aiding the allies covertly before 1942.

Canadian military has a reputation as one of the best fighting forces in the world. It's just a shame they are held back and impeded by pussies in Parliament.

I would like to know who is in charge of the operations of the coalition in the Mid-east. From news reports it seems like every member of the coalition is under orders from it's home government. If that is the case it's a bad scenario. They would need a Commander to oversee all operations and evaluate when changes in operations need to be made.

The Liberals are not making a decision of how to best participate in the coalition because circumstances keep changing. If they are waiting for circumstances to stop changing they will never come to a decision and will do nothing. They should be able to jump in and change operations with the changing circumstances. That would seem to make sense.

I hear that a high ranking military advisor has put forth a recommendation for 'black ops' forces. I think that's the most sensible suggestion yet. But the ***** government is afraid they'll get hurt! Jeez!

Having seen enough people come home in boxes, especially young people, I do not want our troops put recklessly into war. Guys like Trump and the like to run their mouths, but the reality is that they will never sacrifice a child or a brother.

It's a quagmire going in because nobody wants to side with Assad, except the Russians.

I never thought I would hear myself say this, but beyond a bombing campaign I see no gains to be made by putting soldiers on the ground there. Better to identify the bad guys and try and kill them with bombs than waste lives. There are no honest allies in that region.

Canada already has two elite forces that are employed in this fashion.
