Libs. threw it out in there briefing of intentions in their aid package and they were banking on the opposition won't fight them in the face of the crises, and they said yeah, no we will take our chances with a Federal vote over this.

It's a golden age for the criminals, as short as it may be. Forced closure of many businesses and a flood of released convicts. Who, being the fine, upstanding, law-abiding citizens they are will head straight for self-isolation and not come out until the gumbymint says it's okay to.
Word is leaking out that the Conservatives will refuse to support the bill unless 5 specific points in the bill all dealing with this outrageous attempt to give supreme power to Morneau over all Canadian financial matters. Stand pat, Cons.
Absolutely, JLM. I stocked up on reading material a few weeks ago and my friends and I exchange books once we are done - making sure to just drop them off on the doorstep without any physical contact. We are also taking measures to make sure the books themselves are not contaminated. We leave them outside in a covered porch or garage for at least a couple of days.
You and my wife would get along well. I'd swear she reads a book a day! Murder mysteries!
I use a Kindle in camp for that. I can even carry it in my backpack for when we have a bit of downtime.

OTTAWA — Hours before introducing a bill to spend up to $82 billion and increase federal powers to fight the COVID-19 pandemic, the Liberals backed off a measure that the Opposition decried as an attempt to get Parliament to sign them a blank cheque.
While Conservatives said they were prepared to quickly approve the billions in emergency financial aid and economic stimulus as promised by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau last week, they balked at a proposal to give the government sweeping new powers for up to 21 months to unilaterally spend, borrow and tax Canadians without seeking Parliament's approval.
(WE should regard this LIE-beral lust for powr as a SERIOUS ATTEMPT TO AVOID DEMOCRACY! LIE-berals know very well that the Wuhan Virus mess WILL NOT ENDURE for 21 months! Thus the LIE-beral lust for total control with no need to consult with Parliament is nothing more than a SHAMELESS effort to ARTIFICIALLY prop up its lame ass Minority govt!)

The unprecedented proposal was in a draft of the emergency legislation to be tabled in a scaled-down Parliament on Tuesday.
The government has been negotiating with opposition parties to whip the bill quickly through the House of Commons within a few hours, followed by swift approval by the Senate on Wednesday and royal assent immediately after that.
(How odd is it that LIE-berals REFUSED to close the borders, and REFUSED to deal seriously with potentially infected travellers swarming into airports - thus limiting the number of Cdn Wuhan cases! Yet LIE-berals CAN ACT SWIFTLY when it comes to opening the spending flood gates - and grabbing MAJOR new dictatorial powers in the process! Their sudden urgency is DAMNING!)

Ordinarily, the power to impose taxes and allocate the proceeds is in the hands of Parliament, not ministers, and a government falls if the House of Commons won't support its budgetary plans.
(The UGLY REALITY is that LIE-berals are using Wuhan Virus AS AN EXCUSE to try to impose unpopular policies and values on Cdns - while deliberately NEUTERING PARLIAMENT! In the past 4 years - LIE-berals engaged in an INSANE spending spree - adding over $92 billion dollars to the federal debt while our economy was allegedly “Booming” - to use the LIE-beral description!)

Government House leader Pablo Rodriguez tweeted late Monday night that the government would change its draft bill before introducing it.
"We will always work collaboratively and respect the fundamental role of Parliament," the Montreal MP wrote.

Liberals need the unanimous consent of all the MPs appearing in the House of Commons to quickstep the bill through in a matter of hours.
Government sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the bill before it's tabled, said the 21-month timeframe for the extraordinary powers was always negotiable, aimed at giving the government the flexibility to act quickly to provide relief during the crisis without having to wait for a week to organize a recall of Parliament if something new is required.
(Uh huh - LIE-berals love making conciliatory deals - right after they get confronted by JUSTIFIABLY ENRAGED opponents!)
Except for the emergency sitting, the Commons is officially adjourned until April 20, and probably longer.
In a statement late Monday, Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer said his party is willing to enact the measures Trudeau announced last week, which include expanding the Canada Child Benefit and GST credits, relaxed Employment Insurance rules and $55 billion worth of deferred taxes.
"In a crisis, broad all-party agreement is essential, especially when the government has a minority in the House of Commons. And we are prepared to have Parliament sit as needed to transact the business of Parliament," he said.
"But we will not give the government unlimited power to raise taxes without a parliamentary vote. We will authorize whatever spending measures are justified to respond to the situation but we will not sign a blank cheque."
(Scheer must be recognized as being fair and sensible - Cdn economy NEEDS help but this wretched LIE-beral Soviet political coup cannot be permitted!)
The government would not normally share a bill with opposition parties before tabling it in the Commons. Given how little time is planned for debate on this bill, however, opposition parties were given a draft so they'd have a chance to digest the details and speak on the legislation intelligently.
(In other words - LIE-berals were hoping Conservatives would not notice the 21 month time frame for LIE-beral dictatorship!)
By late Monday, both Global News and the Globe and Mail were reporting that they'd been shown the draft bill.
According to Global, it would allow any cabinet minister, with the approval of Finance Minister Bill Morneau, to dispense "all money required to do anything" during a public health emergency.
(That money dispensing deal sounds like just the sort of vaguely legal wording that changed Adolf Hitler over from an ELECTED official - into a DICTATOR!)
The Globe reported that the bill would also give the government the power to change taxation levels through regulation, rather than requiring legislation passed by Parliament, up to the end of 2021. The same would apply to government borrowing.
(AS I have said- it is my opinion that in normal times - the LIE-beral minority govt WOULD NOT have survived past spring 2021 - yet this poisoned bill would allow them to survive for nearly a YEAR LONGER than might otherwise be the case! Cdn democracy MUST NOT be so easily kicked aside by Soviet Style LIE-beral Dictators!)
In amongst the mainly smart rules the BC government awarded themselves like fines for reselling important goods like TP, N95 masks and cleaning supplies they also gave themselves control over businesses that manufacture and distribute these products. Suppliers are now mandated to report inventories and where they are located the the directorate. Letting a socialist government take these kinds of powers is disturbing.
How mighty socialist of them, will this act carry through until a change of Gov. or just for the term of the epidemic?
