We'll have to wait and see on that issue. Canada is a relatively low tax country compared to most of the G20 and if Canada was to lower corporate taxes in response to Trump's tax cuts then personal income tax or sales' taxes would have to rise to make up the difference. The problem is that people want more and better public services and those services cost money. I don't see any way around that issue.
Sure we are , but when is enough , enough? How will my taxdollarpaying for another bean counter or metermaid change anything except my disposable income . The same part that keeps me sane by allowing me the freedom and wallet to do wharever I want .Various levels of government already take over 50% of my labor , how much is enough ? Just the price of a Starbucks a day then 2 how many ?

Is it? Some African nations have an almost 100% discretionary rate.
Very informative, however we pay more then federal income tax . That study failed to mention provincial and municipal taxes nor the Miriam of other levy’s ,and sin taxes .
AS I and many others have stated- Cdns are the most heavily taxed people in the western world- we pay the most and get the least!!!

WOLFVILLE, N.S. — Acadia University has launched a formal investigation into complaints against a professor over controversial comments he made on social media and in the classroom.
(Acadia U is merely the latest of a long line of LIE-beral friendly institutions being outed for their biased position! U of T prof Jordan Peterson was right about how many LIE-beral radicals have infiltrated the education field!)
Heather Hemming, vice-president academic at the Wolfville, N.S., school, said in a letter to professor Rick Mehta that the university has received complaints from students, faculty and others with concerns about his views.
(Oh! A STORM of controversy? Or just one or two PETTY WHINES that bigots are blowing up into a fake storm? Naturally LIE-berals will not say!)
“These concerns relate to the manner in which you are expressing views that you are alleged to be advancing or supporting and, in some instances, time that you are spending on these issues in the classroom,” she said in a letter on Feb. 13. “The university has a legal responsibility to provide an environment free from discrimination, sexual harassment and personal harassment.”
(Since it is the desire of radicals such as Black Lives Matter and native group Idle no More to silence any debate that they do not approve of it is no wonder there have been complaints! In our modern society- being controversial too often means you are telling the FULL TRUTH! One has only to look at the LIE-beral rush to change the way juries are selected simply because they do not like the jury verdict in the native Coulton Boushie shooting! It is full on LIE-beral bigotry!)
Hemming added: “The nature and frequency of these complaints and the significance of the allegations is concerning for the university, and we have determined the necessity of proceeding to a formal investigation.”
The university has retained Wayne MacKay, professor emeritus at Dalhousie University’s Schulich School of Law, to investigate and provide a report to the university, she said.
A spokesman for Acadia said in an email on Monday that the university is not in a position to comment.
Mehta has been outspoken both on campus and on social media about a range of contentious issues including decolonization, immigration, and gender politics, garnering both supporters and opposition.
(Decolonization is a apparently the latest LIE-beral buzz word meaning letting radicals REWRITE Cdn history in order to promote the poisoned idea of so called “white privilege”! Mehta bills himself as a free-speech advocate trying to build bridges across political divides, but critics say he perpetuates harmful stereotypes and is simply seeking attention.
(Yes- people who want logic and justice support Mehta while people who have an axe to grind and want to do it using govt grants want him arrested and silenced for the good of THEIR CAUSE! “He’s just sort of parroting the much more popular Jordan Peterson. He’s very clearly just trying to piggyback on that to gain a certain notoriety,” said Matthew Sears, associate professor of classics and ancient history at the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton.

Peterson, a University of Toronto professor and best-selling author, has become a celebrity of the right for, among other things, steadfastly refusing to use gender-neutral terms.
Mehta, like Peterson a psychology professor, argues he has done nothing wrong, and is only trying to offer students a different perspective from what he calls the dominant political orientation on campus.
“I would have no problem if people refuted me and told me I was being unreasonable, that is perfectly fine. I would love it if students just told me I’m wrong,” the associate professor of psychology said.
(AS a psychology professor it would seem useful to persuade people to look honestly at their lives and to own up to any faults or failings they have! How can you persuade an alcoholic not to drink if the alcoholic blames others for all problems? After all, there is no situation that cannot be made WORSE by alcohol or drug addiction! This is a fact that natives ignore! White people CANNOT order natives not to drink or do drugs! And letting people think they are perpetual victims instead of persuading them that the reason they are unemployed and broke is because they believed that going to school and getting an education represents selling out to white people and this is a value system that is to often poisoning the lives of both natives and blacks!)

Mehta pointed to a study that showed men prefer more competitive careers “whereas the women on average tended to prefer spending time in the community.”
(There is also the issue of women taking time off work to have children- thus halting their career progress! There is the issue of women being the primary care givers- with the married couple often setting things up so wife works shorter hours and tends to kids and the home while hubby works the longer hours to pay the bills! And yes- some women make more money and some men are stay at home dads but this is a function of modern technology and evolving public perceptions - not misogyny- as bigoted LIE-berals want to suggest!)

(Well sure! Who would argue in favour of “harassment”? Problem is that LIE-berals want to define harassment in SELFISH ways that the public OPPOSES!)
He said he would encourage debate from students, which would help them be critical thinkers and informed citizens.
But Sears called Mehta’s “free-speech absolutism” extreme, noting that free speech does not mean consequence-free speech. The university must weigh a professor’s right to free speech with a student’s right to be safe and supported in class, he noted.
“He does have a constitutional right to be an ignoramus about residential schools and even a racist if he wants to be, but he can’t do that and expect he can be an effective and fair and appropriate teacher for students,” Sears said. “You don’t have a constitutional right to be a university professor.”
(Sears means that Mehta cannot be “an effective and fair and appropriate teacher” for the kind of students that Sears thinks are acceptable graduates from her version of a Soviet re-education camp!)
Sears said Mehta is spending his time trying to be a controversial figure and an iconoclast — stepping outside his area of expertise — rather than teaching course material.
(To understand the workings of a damaged mind IS the business of people like Mehta and as a teacher he has an obligation to tell students what he knows! It appears as if Acadia staff are afraid Mehta will expose their failings and maybe they want to silence him to save themselves from embarrassment?)
“The idea that there is a power balance and equivalence between a professor and a student — let alone an Indigenous student in one of his classes — that they can just walk out and say to him he’s wrong” is problematic and disingenuous, he said.
Moreover, Sears argued that topics like decolonization and multiculturalism fall outside Mehta’s field of psychology, Sears said.
(LIE-berals are apparently tinkering with decolonization and multiculturalism for reasons of personal profit and emotional growth at the expense of others! LIE-berals cannot claim virtue for their grossly selfish policies!)
Meanwhile, Mehta said he is worried the investigation into his commentary may not lead to a fair outcome given the university has already taken steps to reduce his course load.
(Yes- it is the STANDARD SOVIET solution to those deemed trouble makers- starve them out! Take away their income and you limit their influence! Such tactics do not win arguments but they do END them- for a while- as Lindsey Shepherd and Jordan Peterson have shown us!)
After several years of teaching the large sections of the required introductory psychology courses, he said Acadia has changed his teaching allocation so that he’s teaching smaller courses.
He said the change is not warranted based on his record, and that he hasn’t been offered a satisfactory explanation despite an appeal.
