President Trump makes good on his threat to target an additional $200 billion in Chinese imports with tariffs, ramping up trade war

The move fulfills the presidents threat to respond to Chinas retaliation for the initial U.S. tariffs on $34 billion in Chinese goods, which went into effect Friday. If the levies go into effect, nearly half of imported Chinese goods would be subject to tariffs.

Trumps latest tariffs will not be imposed until later this summer, after a public comment period.

Trump, E.U. strike deal to avert escalation of trade tensions
Trump and the European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker said they have reached an agreement to work toward eliminating tariffs on industrial goods and to increase European imports of liquified natural gas and soybeans. The two leaders said both sides would hold off on further tariffs as they work to resolve disputes over steel, aluminum and cars.

Sorry for your loss.

So if Trump wins a small fraction of the concessions he is seeking it would be a win would it not? I would be willing to pay a little more for quality products that mean living wages not just corporate wealth.

A Bigly Win!

Canada's strong economy and competitive industries can likely be attributed, at least in part, to a strong, functioning system of basic education despite very little hands-on involvement from the national government.

Trump officials consider more than doubling proposed tariffs on Chinese goods, a move that would ramp up the trade war with Beijing

President Trump is considering a plan to impose a 25 percent tariff on $200 billion in Chinese imports, more than double what he had initially proposed, a person briefed on the matter said.

The deliberations could be a sign that Trump is looking to intensify pressure in the trade standoff with Beijing even if it could significantly drive up costs on a wide range of products for American consumers.

A final decision has not been made, and a number of Trumps threats toward China have been designed more to bring Chinese President Xi Jinping to the negotiating table than to fundamentally change U.S. economic policy, said the person, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss White House deliberations.

If Trump follows through with the plan, it could significantly raise prices on televisions, clothing, bedsheets, air conditioners and other consumer products.

It will also ramp up production of all kinds of products which creates more jobs for Joe and Jane lunchbucket. Trump supporters.

Supply management has nothing to do with what poisons are pumped into our food retard. It is all about controlling supply to keep prices up and the chosen rich. Typical liberal meddling in the economy.

Will it create more jobs? That certainly has not been the case in the first round of tariff exchanges. And in any case, many of the products the US imports from China are not made in the US as the US does not have the same source of cheap labour. All it will means is that your iphone will be more expensive.

U.S and China slap tariffs on each other in latest round of escalating trade war

China announced tariffs on $16 billion in U.S. goods after the United States said it would impose the same amount of tariffs on Chinese goods.

The moves, which were expected, represent an ongoing escalation of trade tensions that could soon see tariffs on hundreds of billions of dollars of goods.
