You two idiots make it sound like droughts were non existant in the past. The fact is droughts are a fact of life. Neither of you, or any other GW adherents for that matter, can definitively link GW with droughts in Canada or the u.s.
See Ad Hominim attacks.
I'm not claiming there have been no droughts in the past, I'm stating that based on the science, more severe droughts and other extreme weather events associated with a warmer global climate will become more common.
And if we slip into a more or less permanent El Nino state as has been predicted by some researchers then the consequences could be severe indeed, and this in conjunction with the rapid retreat of many of the glaciers that help maintain year-round flow of important river systems in this region.
The dumbing down of this nation can be readily seen by the almost total lack of understanding of key issues involving climate change by the very people who keep yelling we need to stop talking about it.
I'm reminded of the movie
Idiocracy by a few of the members here, being happy in your ignorance can get you killed, despite claims to the contrary.
and the droughts from the dirty thirty's was because of GW... cause GW shifted the jet stream? What happened after the 30's till recently? Did GW leave the jet stream alone and let it shift back and now it's decided to shift the jet stream again?
And you were refering to us as idiots?
The entire energy balance between incoming solar radiation and out-going longwave radition is being shifted into a higher state which means the Earth's atmosphere must warm to compensate. All that CO2 we're constantly pumping into the atmosphere slows down outgoing radiation effectively raising the altitude that heat is transfered back into space and requiring the atmospheric envelope as a whole to warm.
This in turn drives other system-wide changes like the warming of the oceans which in turn has had a dramatic effect in both the timing and strength of large scale ocean-atmospheric oscillations like ENSO which have a profound influence on weather and climate globally.
We could possibly be heading into a permanent El Nino state which would with regularity create the conditions for severe droughts in western North America and other regions.
If you think that a desert spanning from Mexico to central Alberta is a good thing then just keep supporting what we're currently doing.
People aren't concerned because they're uninformed, once you learn the specifics of Global Warming only a lunatic would want to continue on the path to a much warmer Earth in what is in geological terms a heartbeat.
