And now it looks like they are going to blow it. Stupid rain delay, screwed up all their momentum!!!!

ESPN has picked up same report. Nothing yet on MLB.com. Will see what Buck and Pat have to say.

If it is a small enough crack, it should be healed enough for him to be available for the playoffs. Hopefully.

Why, in all that is holy, do they have freaking LOUP pitching in the game? Big surprise that he's going to blow it. It's 6-4 now...

8-4 for Toronto now! Needed some breathing room, that is for sure! Revere sure has picked it up! He started off slowly with his offense, but his is now hitting .345 with the Jays. Plus, he is really good in left field!:)

10-4 for the Jays now! Wowsers!:)

Thanks a lot to both of you. I am back watching the Jays as the Riders just lost to the Bombers. Jays are up 10 - 4.

The Bombers got revenge for the last game.

No problem, Mowich. It's just nice being able to root for them (as a winning team) again.

Two outs in the bottom of the 7th, with a runner of first. Seven more outs to another victory (which looks more likely at 10-4 than 6-4)!

Yeah, I am happy for Bomber fans. Brett needs some more seasoning and better protection. Rumor is that Kevin Glenn could be coming back.

So if the Jays hang on to win this they will be what............another full game up on the Yankees? I get confused easily when it comes to math. LOL.

The Yankees cut the lead to 3 again.......darn them.

If they win this game, they will be 4.5 games ahead of the Yankees. If they win tomorrow, then it would be 5.5 games. New York plays on Monday while Toronto has the day off. If the Yankees then lose that game they would then be 6 games back.

It works like this. If both teams are playing, there is a whole game differential, but if only one team plays that day, then there is only a half game differential.

What do you expect? Francis is not very good.

I hate Yankee Stadium anyhow. It is so shallow that it is far too easy for homeruns to be hit.

Top of the 9th now. If only stupid Gardner wasn't playing. It would be 10-1 instead! They better not blow this game!

I copied and saved your explanation so I will know from now on and I thank you for taking the time with a baseball newbie.

That's the ball game folks, outstanding.............they took it to the Yankees and came away Champs. Yeah Blue Birds.

You're welcome.:)

I accept money and food as payment.;)

And you beat me to the punch! A 1-2-3 ninth inning, and Lowe gets the save. I honestly think that this series has pretty much ended it for New York's chances at winning the East. It wouldn't surprise me to see the Jays sweep the series, but I think it will be a sloppy game. The bullpens (particularly New York's) are tired and they had a loooong day of baseball today.

As it stands, the Jays now hold a 4.5 game lead over the Yankees.:)

I should add that Toronto is now only 2.5 (or is it 3?) games behind Kansas City for having home field advantage for the entire playoffs! I hope they get it!

The Yankees need to start concerning themselves with Houston/Texas (whichever does not win the west) and Minnesota. They have not looked good but perhaps the Jays have just been that good.

At this point in time the lead is 4.5 games (4 in the L column). That 1/2 game is caused by the Jays having played 1 more game than the Yankees at this point in time. The Yankees will make up this game the Thursday after their 3 game set in Toronto. They will play the White Sox while the Jays will have that day off. This week the teams have off days on different days so they will temporarily be even after Monday until this Thursday.

what a long day of baseball, extra innings in the first game then a rain delay in the second, by the end of the

day the place was almost empty.

Except for all the stalwart Blue Bird fans who were having the time of their lives - rain or shine.

Read this morning that Troy Tulowitzki was diagnosed with a cracked left scapula and upper back bruising. Hope he has a speedy recovery but with the way Pennington filled in for him, I would venture to say the Jays are in pretty good shape.

GO BLUE BIRDS!

I'm certainly gaining more respect for pennington, he has made some fine plays at 2nd base,

makes the absence of tulowitzki less scary, as goins plays a fine shortstop.

I'm looking forward to 'price' being able to bat when he pitches against Atlanta, he sits in the dugout

holding a bat, I think he is just itching to get a chance to use it. such a neat guy, just a kid

each and every game, when he isn't playing, right into the game, best cheer leader they have.

They are saying 2-3 weeks for Tulo. And the Jays picked up another infielder as insurance from the Dogers today for cash. Will only be able to use him in regular season but they are not taking any chances.

Too bad they couldn't sweep but 3.5 game lead is good. By my calculations we will see today's Yankee pitcher when they play in Toronto likely the day I have tickets. Hope they do better against him then.

yes, he was right on his game today, gave them nothing to hit at all, and as buck says, "a great pitcher
will outplay great hitters", always, and they proved his point today, even when he makes a mistake he
never throws up into the strike zone, he always misses outside the plate.

anyway, that is good for them, keeps them humble, reminds them that they can't just hit anybody at
anytime, they must have respect for a pitcher like him, playing like he did today.

That's it. No more days off or NFL games for the Jays. :p All last night, the Braves seemed to have the upper hand and the Jays were unable to change things........or so it appeared to me. Tonight, they are right back on track so far though the Braves dumped the pitcher that was giving the Jays so many runs and now have Marimon up. Jays up 5 - 1 top of the 4th.............oh and Edwin is back.

Top of the 5th: 7 - 1 Blue Jays

Darn Jays lost last night (poor effort all around), but at least the Stankees lost as well. The bad thing is that the Royals won last night.

Tonight the Jays are winning handily, the Royals are down 5-1 in the top of the 8th, and the Stankees are leading 2-1 over Tampa Bay in the top of the 7th.

Edwin's actually 3-3 with a walk as well! They needed him in the lineup!

Sure seems that way, Shadow - Edwin is the wind beneath their wings. David Price just went all seven innings and threw under 100 pitches with something like 8 strike-outs - I think they are letting him sit now - good night for David. We're in the top of the 8th now - Jays still up 7 - 1. Much better effort by the Jays tonight and the outfield has been solid for them.

He ended with 105 pitches and 9 ks. Good night indeed.

And did you just do a pun, Mowich? Wind beneath their wings? You do know what they call his homerun trot, right?;)

KC has 1 out in the top of the 9th. Two more outs, and if the Jays win, they will gain a game on them! It is still 2-1 Stankees in the top of the 8th, and I have a feeling that stupid TB won't be doing us any favours...again!

Uh, no. What do they call his homerun trot?

I think the Yanks have TB's number - I was expecting better games from them...........ooh they just walked Edwin top of the 9th.....think the Jays will be walking away happy with this one tonight. Go Blue Birds.

Wooo Hooo............2-run homerun for Russel Martin!

They call it the chicken wing. Check him out when he rounds first base.;)

TB is actually below Baltimore now in the standings. The Stankees won, it looks like Toronto will win, and KC lost. So, at least Toronto will gain a game for home field advantage. Also, it means that there is now going to be another game down towards Toronto clinching the East.:)

Sorry, the TB/Stankees game is still going on, but the Stankees are now ahead 3-1. Toronto is now ahead 9-1 due to Martin hitting a 2 run homer!

Okay, I will watch more closely when he is a bat. Good solid win for the Jays tonight. There were some really pretty plays by the outfield tonight - that out on third was sooo cool.
