Even the same rhetoric in the U.S. wouldn't bode down well.

We no longer have citizen militaries and it's less permissible for professional soldiers to scream blood than an entire nation.

That's why I used the word fun.

Even when I disagree with what he's saying, I can see the namby pamby's turning red and grimacing as the words pour out of his mouth.

You do realize that there are big hairy men out there who grimace every time that sub inhuman suit freak opens his coarse pie hole don't you? You can carry his bag into the states yankee dog.

I'm sure there are. But that means nothing to me, you might like big hairy men, and be aware of what they think and do, but I prefer the fairer sex thanx.

Maybe that's why you keep at me so 'hard', infatuation. While I might be big, I'm not hairy, so you can holster that wee weapon son.

You can carry his bag into the states yankee dog.
If he's hairy, I wouldn't be able to get past you.

But if you mean his luggage, sure I would, I'd be proud to carry it for the man. With all his faults, he ain't you. Which makes him a great man.

If Mr Cherry thinks that there's glory in war he should fight himself or give one of his own up for that glory instead of gleefully war mongering on public television, the preening buffoon would send his team over the top to die for the bankers without even the foggiest concept of this Afghan war. He's a piss poor role model for any form of life.

I see you have as limited a grasp on the spoken word as you do on the written.

He's a piss poor role model for any form of life.
You'd be the authority. Being a rodent and all.

I've never seen Don Cherry make a statement in support of war or a political party on Coach's Corner. As far as the Afghan war is concerned, he only acknowledges the efforts and sacrifice of Canada's service men and women overseas.

Whether you support the Afghan war or not, we should all recognize that some Canadians who volunteered to serve in Canada's military risk their lives over seas and some have paid the ultimate cost while performing their duty.

If you have a problem with Canada's involvement in Afghanistan, then take it up with the Canadian politicians and leaders responsible.

Cherry's mouth always reminds me of one looking for an upper cut ... but then again, I thought Archie Bunker was a great antagonist too. The troops don't ask to go into a war zone any more than anyone else would ask for reams and reams of work-through-lunch in their inboxes, or acre-big puddles in the field they want to plow.

There are a few things that Don does which I do not agree with but his continuing support of our troops on Coaches Corner is not one of them.

Sacrifice is thought to result in some ultimate reward, the word we really want is waste. I acknowedge the waste of a portion of this Canadian generation in a blood sacrifice to greed and power. I will never honor waste and murder and war. It's because we do that we are still at war. Their duty is to Canada not to anything else certainly not an imperial war of conquest on the other side of the planet that has no definition or purpose except to extend the rule of money. Make up your mind do you want peace or not?

Yes, I agree, supporting the soldiers and acknowledging who they 'were' and saying a little something
about them is a good thing, and has 'nothing' to do with war mongoring or political stands at all.

All the political stuff behind the scenes and decisions to go into afghanistan etc., are separate and
really don't enter into giving respect and acknowledgement to a individual who has died on the
battlefield.

We must care first, for that individual, realizing he will not have 'the rest of his life', then disagree with the rest of it second.

Don Cherry is going over the top in "supporting the troops". Unless he stops I am in favour of kicking him off Coach's Corner. People who say they only want to support the troops, indirectly tell others to shut up because "How can you be against our Canadian boys?" And on and on they foam at the mouth. This stilfes debate on a serious topic. This is over the line and Don needs to be reined in if he doesn't stop. Which means kicked off the CBC.

Coach's Corner is not about politics. Don is fine sticking to hockey.

Okay, Vancouver, wear red for Cherry

By JOE WARMINGTON, Toronto Sun
Last Updated: January 7, 2011 8:46pm

A group calling itself Hockey Fans for Peace will be at the Rogers’ Arena in Vancouver protesting Don Cherry’s Coach’s Corner support for our Canadian troops Saturday.

“He’s invoking the soldiers as a way of promoting the war,” Derrick O’Keefe of Stopwar.ca has been quoted as saying, adding Cherry is “100% pro-war.”

Kimball Cariou said the CBC should either “stop the promotion of militarism during hockey broadcasts, or else allow one of its members to debate Cherry” on Coach’s Corner.

Right! Cherry showing the pictures of our fallen soldiers is far more noble than trying to cheaply grab some national attention off our war dead.

One way Vancouver fans can show support for the troops, and tell all left-wing kooks to stick it in their pipe, is wear red at tonight’s game. Very few Canadians are on the Taliban’s side. Exale at my pal Augusto (Bong) Capitin’s place instead.
So your against Don Cherry exercising his Freedom Speech in support of Canadian Soldiers because he supports them while you do not? ;-)

Don Cherry is bang on.He strongly supports our troops and the job they are doing in Afghanistan.I wish more Canadians were like him.A lot of the dumb @ss comments on this suite make me puke.I can see there are a lot of clueless people making idiot comments here. They haven't got a clue as to what is being done in Afghanistan.Funny I don't see or read any comments about the evil of the Taliban. All of the these gutless wonders who made anti Don Cherry comments, seeing as you are so against the war in Afghanistan then perhaps you should get up off of your lazy @sses and go over there and demand that the Taliban stop their murderous war against the innocent people of Afghanistan. To those who criticize Don Cherry and his support for our troops, bet none of you idiots have ever set foot in Afghanistan, yet you mouth off about something you no nothing about.
Like Don Cherry, I too support our troops and mission in Afghanistan, because I understand why we are there..

it just gets tiring.

first off because our boys shouldn't even be over there to begin with.. and you can go and say this guy died..

and be done with it. no need to milk it to death. i'm surprised he isn't doing a bow of your heads to silence and then some trumpet solo goes off.

just say your piece and get on to hockey.
