And it has little or nothing to do with the topic, there`s more than enough confusion around climate change without adding to it.
Yeah, diminishing ice in the north has little to do with diminishing ice in the north.

Bringing the Greenland Ice Sheet into a discussion about the disappearance of Arctic sea ice cover in the summer could easily bring some people to conclude there`s no real issue when once again it doesn`t melt if they`re confusing it with Greenland ice. It`s how climate change denial operates, bait and switch, bait and switch.
Um, you do know that a large chunk of Greenland is in the Arctic don't you? And ice loss is ice loss?
Here's a map for ya, pilgrim:

Still at it eh,

The prediction isn't for the ice cover to be gone over the entire Arctic in the summertime, it's for the sea ice to melt in the summertime. There's a huge difference between a thin several metres thick layer of ice floating on water and a huge ice sheet thousands of feet thick on land.

So when you inevitably claim the predictions didn't come true because the Greenland Ice Sheet is still there, I'll be here to point out that you're full of sheet.

Still didn't understand the post I made, I see. Boy, talk about thousands of feet thick. lmao

Quoting myself: "Well, I wouldn't predict a complete loss of ice but there's certainly a huge amount disappearing from places like this" (and I included a couple links). I suppose to clarify a little more I could have said "Well, I wouldn't predict a complete loss of ice but there's certainly a huge amount disappearing from places like this and the Arctic Ocean". But that's hindsight and by the looks of things, you'd still be nitpicking anyway.

Do you have anything to offer besides pointless personal observations.

.

One man's pointless observation is another man's post on Canadian Content.

Whoop! Whoop!

Thread title...

... and this thread is how many years old? Four!

I'm with Prax... wake me up for Doomsday.

it's for the sea ice to melt in the summertime.

Yes, ice will melt in the summertime. Gosh you're brilliant!

Not the first time Watts has been caught using something bogus, in this case a photo/caption combination. The fact that the ship surfaced at the North Pole in 1959 is not bogus, the picture depicting an ice free pole however is. Or rather it's a photo taken at a different location and time of year. Below are the pictures of the Skate surfacing at the North Pole. Note the ceremony they had while standing on the ice, scattering the ashes of Sir George Hubert Wilkins. There was no open water when the Skate surfaced at the North Pole in March of 1959.

Afterwards, Under the North Pole: the Voyage of the Nautilus

Point is, cover varies. I wasn't looking for pictures.... :p
Agreed. Don't think that I was lumping you in with those folks who place all their trust in pictures and camp awards. Though there are plenty of those folks at Watts' web emporium of lunacy.

You still miss the point, scientists are predicting a complete loss of Arctic sea ice in the summertime which is the subject here, not the Greenland Ice Sheet which IS ON LAND.

It's two different topics.

I posted this elsewhere, but it fits here as well.

http://www.ecoworld.com/global-warming/the-real-facts-on-increasing-antarctic-ice.html

It points to the dramatic increase in the Ice Sheet of Antarctica... There is a cyclical flux of high and low temperatures in comparison to norms, often fluctuating between the Northern and Southern Hemispheres.. but also as we've seen this summer, between East (Eurasia) and West (North America). Unfortunately for AGW demagogues.. nothing points to anything but a cycle of temperatures within the normal range. NOTHING to support AGW.

I'm sure you'll see the focus change again when localized events such as El Nino in the north... or El Nina in the southern hemisphere reverse at some point.. when the media will start screaming about disappearing Antarctic Ice or droughts in Africa.

The prediction isn't that ice will melt in the summertime, it's that the Arctic ocean will be ice free in summertime, there's a huge difference.

And the delayed timing is undersandable in light of the strongest La Nina and the deepest and most prolonged solar sunspot minimum in recorded history that began about three years ago, both temporary conditions that favor a cooler globe and both that are ending.

The Arctic ice pack has been thinning and declining in extent for several decades to the point where it becomes vulnerable to a very hot summer in North America, like the one we're having this year and are being predicted for several more years.

A loss of the Arctic ice pack will have significant ecological and climate impacts, the wake up call will be very loud indeed.

****, you're dense. The point was "This summer may see first ice-free North Pole". I suggested that I don't think ice will totally disappear even though it is disappearing in massive amounts all over the north.
I didn't miss the point; you only deluded yourself into thinking I did.
Your depth of thought is pretty anorexic.

You called me a Bulemic yesterday.. LG.. and Redmonton an Anorexic today.. and we are on opposite sides of the AGW game. I'm not sure how these references of eating disorders applies to Climate fraud.. but I think you are being a little Orthorexic in your criticism.. :)

I;ve no doubt quacks existed 200 years go on climate hysteria. The only difference now is its turned in flocks of quacks, that blot out the sun as they pass over.

Bull ****. In 2009 they had little idea of how much ice was disappearing from the Antarctic simply because they didn't see it. Why they didn't is because it is melting from below the surface.

And I have pionted this out to you before. You can't face facts. That's sad.

You called me a Bulemic yesterday.. LG.. and Redmonton an Anorexic today.. and we are on opposite sides of the AGW game.
Nope, I didn't call you a bulemic nor did I call Red an anorexic. I stated that ASPECTS of you both are. And in two totally different contexts.
I'm not sure how these references of eating disorders applies to Climate fraud..
It has to do with shape. Anorexic/ bulemic in the contexts I was using them means "****ing thin". DUH
but I think you are being a little Orthorexic in your criticism.. :)
Well, it's pretty obvious, your thought processes are lacking.

If you read the article that i posted you'll see the habit of deceptive recycling reports.. always in the most dramatic and emotional of language.. 'collapse' 'disappearance'. that bear no relation to reality. They're just looking for easy saps who soak up this nonsense as Gospel truth.

You are just going to have to look deeply enough at the motivation and tactics of the AGW lobby.. to realize that it is a pack of lies.. by a pack of liars.... and their running dogs in the press.
