Gotta disagree. Obama has amassed more debt in the last 4 years than the last 40.

The Congress has the power of the purse. He only has been able to do that because Congress let him. At any time they can tell any President "no" when it comes to money. For some reason they havent done that in decades.

The Democrats controlled the both Houses for 2 years.....

Only those with blind faith like JLM will bend-over-backwards to absolve their messiah of any wrong doings under any/all circumstances

Lighten up Cap't, it's only politics, everyone has a different opinion, so I like Obama, you like Romney..................why do you have a problem with it, I've never thought Obama was perfect, just a decent person who has the good of his country at heart.

It's OK JLM, I'm just funnin' ya.

But in the end, the facts are the facts. Don't get upset with the facts just because they don't support your preferences

You mean 4 years of failure, economic collapse and ineffectiveness.

Lemme ask you, would you seek to have a brain surgeon with a 4 year track record of killing his patients do the delicate work on your surgery?

As opposed to one with no track record? I'll take my chances with the poor record. After all he can only improve whereas the other one is untested.

Gotta disagree. Obama has amassed more debt in the last 4 years than the last 40.

And how much of that was accumulated cleaning up after the disasters caused by george the lesser?

lol From what I've seen so far, neither candidate's party has been devoid of morons.

But teddy thinks more is better.

I know, what I didn't know was you were doing it intentionally! There are facts and then there are people's perception of the facts. I suppose one is almost as important as the other when it comes to politics. I think the most important trait in politics for success is to be well liked (and that can cover up a lot of skulduggery)

You saw the disaster relative to Obama's 'no record'... Factor-in the reality that he has no real world experience and you get 6 trillion in new debt in 4 short years.

Obama made a lot of promises and was unable to deliver on anything important. So, I think that it's pretty clear that his sh*tty record of non-accomplishments will likely be followed-up with even sh*ttier accomplishments in a second term

And how much of that was accumulated cleaning up after the disasters caused by george the lesser?

Disasters like what?

I know we can't blame Katrina on George BUT I think a lot of money was squandered because someone didn't take charge of mitigating or repairing the damage in a timely manner and perhaps George was remiss in not having the proper and competent people in charge of starting to deal with it on day one!

The Democrats controlled the both Houses for 2 years.....

But not the last two. So, in the last 10 years both a Republican and a Democratic President have made a mess, as have both parties when they each controlled congress. So, why the hell is anyone voting for either party?

Lighten up Cap't, it's only politics, everyone has a different opinion, so I like Obama, you like Romney..................why do you have a problem with it, I've never thought Obama was perfect, just a decent person who has the good of his country at heart.

It is kind of strange that a bunch of Canadians are having an intense debate over American politics. Whether we agree or not makes absolutely no difference as we don't live there and don't get a vote.

Good point, but I suppose it may affect us indirectly!

Oh it will. I imagine even those who hated Trudeau would agree with him when he compared being next to the US to sleeping beside an elephant.

It is because Canadians find US politics so much more entertaining compared to that of Canada, probably due to the fact that Canada seems to have far fewer political nutcases and also because Canadian elections only last a couple of months vs the years it takes to get the US political circus resolved.

As you say, any student of US affairs knows that for the most part it doesn't really matter whether it is Republicans or Democrats who hold power as their policies when in office are pretty much identical. With, of course, rare exceptions like G.W. Bush who manage to bugger things up almost beyond belief. It is, however, that very buggering up we do much like to watch.

Actually I find it kind of strange that you would refer to the majority of these posts as a 'debate'. Reads more like extreme partisan hackery to me, particularly coming from the OP of this and many other threads. There's a one note wonder if I've ever come across one.

No one who comes to the table with an implication, or sometimes a right out statement, that anyone who may think differently than they do is an idiot and a moron, is interested in "debate". They just want to hear themselves talk, pat themselves on the back for their 'excellent posts' and 'prescient thinking', deriding all those with what they deem to be a singular view while they themselves revel in their own.

It is arrogant hypocrisy at it's most obvious and is the very antithesis of debating.

To be sure, there are those on these forums who are capable of debate, who will actually listen/read the points made by others and provide counter points of their own to support their views. So why everyone gives all this attention to the few who are not capable of it is beyond me. Talk about feeding the trolls.

Maybe for Canadians it's not really that "debatable" of a subject, it's more like rooting for one candidate or the other much like we root for a sports team..........based more on emotions than anything else. We don't have a huge stake in the outcome. It's probably got more to do with who we like than who is better qualified. Personally, I like Obama and Mitty boy is an a&&hole.

You could use the same post on most of the religious threads.

Well - its what passes for a debate on US politics. They're mostly shows with little substance.

Maybe for Canadians it's not really that "debatable" of a subject, it's more like rooting for one candidate or the other much like we root for a sports team..........based more on emotions than anything else. Agreed.
