Have we made a wrong turn. I will pull over and have some more beer while I check the map. No we're still in OZ. Ooops I locked my keys in the boot. For an American to have shame is a very good thing for America. It means you are properly aware of the national predicament and there is a national predicament. Of course many Canadians have been ashamed of their own part in the crisis/disaster unfolding faster maybe than many of us would like it to. I think it's very proper to be ashamed of squandering the future of our own children and their children. the waste, the stupidity, the slaughter. What the hell is there to be proud of? If there's no shame then there is no hope.

I know it's hard to deal with me. I focus on contradictions between ideology and street level reality.
Ideology is much like religion. A kernal of a partial truth surrounded by blind faith and hope.
I wonder if the dead and dying in Afghanistan would agree with you? What do you think?

Support for Obama constitutes support for more war in Afghanistan. That simply can't be denied.

Well put. I come from the other side of the aisle philosophically than you do. But it should be apparent to everyone that America is bleeding out in the Hindu Kush. America is trying to build a nation in south central Asia while it's own infrastructure crumbles. The power of the status quo can be found on both left and right in America.
Conservatives are the only ones in Washington, DC who are making plans to cut the Defense budget. Obama's Secty. of Defense speaks out against cuts, and Obama's budget doesn't make any serious defense cuts.
Quite frankly, America must come home to save itself. But Obama is still trying to maintain the vestiges of empire.

When I first joined this forum (I believe it was in 2005) the first people I quoted who opposed Bush's war were the John Birch Society. A true conservative adheres to the teachings of our Founding Fathers and opposes foreign wars. But you have to be principled in order to do so.

It is never too late to smell the roses. Spending your last days railing against the machine is a complete waste of time. The world is a place of extreme contrast, most of it caused by man's indifference, greed and avarice. Sounds like you need to go to the most beautiful place you know and do some shrooms or vitamin L.

The objectives of the war are explicitly spelled out ( FSD, Full Spectrum Domination) are they not?. That my friends is the goal of any and all empires.In the present case it seems certain that the direction and velocity are now irreversable. Certainly from the financial perspective it has been for some time. The machine needs to be reset to zero cuz the numbers are all ****ed up and only war or a miracle can restart our crooked economies. IMHO
