It seems to be the norm in Canadian politics at all levels that we get pissed at the incumbents and decide to turf them without a whole lot of thought as to what we replace them with. The NDP's entire campaign is based on "Let's get her!", inciting anger at every opportunity, pretty much the same as the right is doing in Alberta. In BC, Hulk Horgan is more concerned with keeping the electorate angry than anything else, as it's a fact that an angry electorate is not a thinking electorate. In the background, for those willing to look for it, is your basic socialist agenda of programs to benefit the lower end of the income spectrum financed by the higher end. And the middle class, those who just want to work and get ahead a little, can look forward to the NDP slamming on the brakes for job opportunities like Site C Dam, the Kinder Morgan expansion, and LNG development. Say what you will about the BC Liberals, they've kept the store open through some pretty tough times.
Just for comparison, the right/left dichotomy doesn't really work across the BC/Alberta border without applying an exchange rate, as the BC NDP are considerably further to the left than the Alberta NDP.
