And 6 out of the 15 staid in power for less then a year due to a poor election platform, a general election took place and they were shown the door. Great legacy.

What crap..........................................

6 of those 15 were there due to two deaths and three resignations so the party was leaderless. What sort of opposition must there be when a leaderless party gets in? (Arthur Meighan, 1926 - when Mackenzie-King (Lib) was fired)

See ... Interim means unelected - either in a General Election or by the party

Hey if the Conservatives were anything worth voting for, let History speak for it self.
That's what we are posting here for, Soc. To see what the past says about conservative history. You said they haven't done anything. Yet Canada is a country because of a conservative gov't.
If you think the word majority consists of stooges, you don’t think much of your country.
Wrong, I think the majority of voters are lacking objectivity and the urge to think in depth. Obviously you are one who has no objectivity and I have doubts about your depth of thought.
Since Confederation Canada has shown who is fit to rule and who is a phoney.Liberalism was chosen with out force, don’t forget that , this is not Russia where the tanks roll in and you vote for me. The people long ago realised that Conservativism is a second choice not first.:roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll:
At the moment it is first choice, obviously. The Cons are still gov't. And what Russian tanks have to do with Canadian politics is a mystery.

I haven't heard of any Adscams, Shawinigates, and stuff yet so it appears that Harpy has a slightly better set of principles than the last batch of Gliberals anyway.

And she is absolutely right........it is lovely, after 20 years of Mulroney and Chretien, to have actually gone 4 years without allegations of serious corruption, influence pedaling, using the RCMP as a personal Gestapo force, etc etc etc etc etc.

The CPC has oft been confused, messed up........Harper has all the tact of a Great White Shark.......but there has not been massive corruption.....and THAT is a relief.

Try as you might...nobody can make me hate Cretien.....or Martin for that matter.

It's a little hard to hate Mr. Dithers.....although the infighting in the Liberal Party for years makes one imagine he was a little more vicious than he appeared as PM.

Chretien, on the other hand, a fricken mobster. Jean the Don. Using the RCMP as heavies at APEC, against the President of the BDBC when he refused to be a part of a corrupt scheme benefiting Jean, overseeing the Sponsorship scandal, partnering up with felons, appointing a mobster to cabinet, and protecting the SOB by sending him off to Denmark........and on and on and on........Jean actually achieved what should have been impossible......he made Lyin' Brian look honest in comparison........

Oh yeah, I can't stand that SOB.....despise him almost as much as Brian.......

That's nice...how many days did Cretien spend in jail?

None.

Plus.....I love this...

YouTube - (former) prime minister jean chretien explains...

People made fun of this but it was so true and it kept us out of the biggest mistake of the last 100 years....the one in which Mr. Harper was ready to commit to...regardless of proof.

That just proved that the man was an idiot.

Was he wrong?

Cretien was far from stupid....even Colpy would agree...he was sly and politically adept....it's who Harper learned it from as a student of politics.

They didn't call him Teflon John without reason. Nothing stuck to him. The guy always managed to step away from it smelling like a rose....

Perhaps he was not guilty...no court has proven anything.

The guy is a genious...I've met the man...in fact...he has supped at my table.

Delightful guest....better than that little puke who is my MP.

I met the guy too ... and suppressed the urge to count digits to make sure there were still five when I got my hand back. I'll give credit where it is due too. He wasn't afraid to delegate authority. That's a good team player.

Too funny, when he left my cottage I went around and checked the silverware as a joke.

Absolutely I would agree....not stupid.....and I initially fell for the 'Little Guy from Shawinigan" charm......(not enough to vote for him, he is a LIBERAL (shudder) after all)

But WOW, in power....just fricken dangerous.

I soon learned to dislike him....immensely.

A consumate politician.....and that is NOT a compliment.

It is the best thing I can say about him.

Northern Ontario,
Once in the '90s when visiting the paper mill there for the company I worked for and talking to the hotel manager where I was staying,
He relayed a story to me that happened when he went to grade school with ti-Jean...One kid in his class had gotten appendicitis and Ti-Jean knew the symptoms so one day he didn't want to go to school and faked the symptoms....so of he went to the hospital where his Uncle was a surgeon and got an appendix removed that didn't need it.
Now I couldn't verify that at the time....but it does sound like something he would do:lol:

Northern Ontario,
Well I'll be D...., I didn't check that story back then because I didn't have the internet....But I just did and the guy wasn't lying...:lol:

canadianwild.ca Jean Chretien
As a child Chretien's father Wellie pushed his children. He wanted to become powerful members in the community. He wanted them to become politicians, lawyers, or doctors. "You know, I was thinking law, because of my dad, but my mind was more scientific ... My brothers were all in science. And I have to tell you that I was very good in mathematics and physics." But Jean was destined to go into law because that was the education path he was headed into. In order to get them the best education he sent them to Quebec boarding schools. He despised them especially Joliette. He tried everything to get out of there. A fellow student in the boarding had an infected appendix and Chretien seized this opportunity. He asked this student what were the synthoms, the questions the doctors asked, and where to say it hurt. So petite Jean faked an appendix attack. He acted out the synthoms so good that doctors chose to take out his appendix even though the blood tests showed nothing was wrong. Jean no it was too late too back out and even he did he would have to admit that he was wrong. His appendix was removed. After the surgery the doctors realized the appendix was perfectly healthy and they had been duped.

...and Harper isn't a consumate politician?

News to me, he plays the Libs so perfectly it's astonishing to think they were the masters back in the day.
