But but but.... That's different from what you originally said.....
No it's not. I didn't mention or even hint at any particular belief, I said "in general" a lot of people believe things that are demonstrably false. You just assumed in your usual prickly way that I meant your belief in god. You want a list of the kind of things I was thinking of? Astrology, homeopathy, reiki, iridology, reflexology, young earth creationism, clairvoyance, telepathy, auras, dowsing, palmistry, graphology... ah, the list is endless.

Or did he do it all so that he could create humans in his own image?

God created humanity and all the other life in the Universe because He is a creative Being and it gives Him pleasure to create. God is a personal Being, and it gives Him pleasure to have other beings He can have a genuine relationship with.

As for the childish notion of "loneliness", God does not feel loneliness. In all the eternity that existed before life and the university were created by God, He was not lonely. God did not create human beings because He needed them. As God, He needs nothing. He loves us but He doesn't need us. He created us simply because He is a creative Being.

Hmmmm, ya, OK, sure. I create stuff too. It gives me great pleasure to create things too. Just finished this yesterday:

Notice it has people, and animals and trees and stuff. I must be god.

How is it different? He said lots of people believe in things that are demonstrably false. He did not say the existence of a god is demonstrably false.

You did.

Back pedaling? Having problems keeping YOUR beliefs straight?
Looks to me more like he's rejecting you putting words in his mouth.

And they're right.
Yep. Barenaked Ladies say "The whole universe was in a hot, dense state." That's a dead-on description of Arizona.

The Big Bang happened everywhere. It happened where I'm sat now. It happened in what became, 14 billion years later, my living room back at home. It happened within what is now St Paul's Cathedral. It happened in what is now Arizona. Everywhere you go in the Universe is the exact spot where the Big Bang happened.

Don't worry. God still loves you, whatever you think of Him.

From the OP.
We have seen how nature, the universe abhors a vacuum. Please refer to - What preceded the Big Bang?
Did the universe collapse causing the BB?
The Big Bang?

We have some knowledge of what occurred after the Big Bang.

A knowledge level that is comparable to holding a grain of sand on a sandy beach.

So what caused the Big Bang?

What preceded the Big Bang.

What was present before the Big Bang?

We don't have answers to those questions yet, we have only some plausible speculations--plausible in the sense that they're consistent with the physics we know, darkbeaver's electric cosmos nonsense notwithstanding--but there are people thinking about them.

A vast amount of time, perhaps something like 26.5B years if the universe is 13.5B years old.

Only if once stars no longer form the coldness shrinks it.

Two black holes merging.

The formation of the black holes.

A lot of mass that was scattered over an area many times the size of the current universe, the expansion is taking us back to that same state.
