This sure has been a fun Olympic series. Local girl Lindsay Vonn has been a big hit with the media lately. So good to see her win that Gold!

I watched her down-hill run over and over, it was fantastic,
she was so much better than all the others, smooth and
powerful.
canadians beat the swiss in a shoot-out, a very exciting
game, the swiss are very good, playing better than I have
ever seen them, makes for a better tournament.
Watching slovakia and russia right now, no score yet,
after one period.
both goalies played great, also in the shoot out, only one goal scored.

Yeah that game was a nail biter after such a good start. Too bad the next game isn't against Belarus instead of the U.S. :lol::lol:

they use 3 shooters, and after that they can use whomever
they want, so dimetra shot once, and missed, and later he

Go Canada Go, go where to hell in a hand basket? Why would anyone want to celebrate being 6 to 8 billion dollars in debt so rich people can have some fun
being spectators at a winter event. Wait till the budget comes down cutting
our services, because we are out of money yet we can spend money on this
foolishness. Kids education, medicare and other service needs are more important
than sporting events. The only people who will benefit are real estate agents
and some big corporations and you will get the bill to pay for it all.

Of the three families that I know who are going to watch, none would be considered above middle class. One couple won a trip through work, the other two families saved up for a year.

We're going to walk onto the ferry early monday morning,
take the bus into vancouver and hang out all day, join the
fun on robson street, visit some of the free areas,
there are lots of them.
If we had more time we could buy a pass into canada hockey
house, opens at 2 oclock, $99 ea. includes food, and hang around there, hockey games on large screen, then they have entertainment all evening.
We would have to stay overnight to do that, which brings
up big problem of 'where' to sleep, so that ends that idea.
Bought a couple of canada shirts, and a hat for 'him'.
Now that it is here, I'm not going to let it all go by
without at least spending one day in the middle of it.

Where do you dream up this sh*t Y.J. Have you looked at a map of Greece? You'll notice it's just north east a few miles from the Sahara Desert. What winter sports do you think they would have in Greece? Maybe they could have stone boat races.......:lol::lol:

That is exactly my point, JLM. The ancient Greeks never had Winter Olympics. There were never any Winter Olympics until some people/nations who could not win/produce anything in the Summer Olympic Games came up with the idea of Winter Olympics.
I am sure that if it had been the ancient Lapps or Vikings to create the first Olympic Games, it would have included sports persued in the Northern climate.
Also sure that the people/nations who could not have won anything there, would have invented the Summer Olympics.

Oh, Ok Y.J. Sorry I lost my temper. Winter Olympics are just as valid and important as Summer Olympics. About the only improvement I could see to the Winter Olympics would be to have ice fishin' contests. :smile::smile:

And so, we should eliminate all winter and all women's sports from the Olympics. Go back to naked athletes and rampant buggery; that will draw the tv viewers, anyway.
