The best part is, there won't be any Liberals or Bloc to worry about. Or at least, not enough of them to bother listening to. It's quite funny that the Liberals are relegated to 3rd place.
And the Greens will have to be in the next leaders' debate.
That pretty much sums up voting day down here Petros. The elderly show up in force each and every time. You do not want to upset the over 60 crowd or you'll suffer. The youth are nowhere to be found except maybe on a Presidential Election.

Got my eye on Australia right now. Lots of oil business in the western part of the country I understand. 30% increase in income, extra vacation time, more sick leave...what's not to like. And bovine betty's on the beach too...
I really like Canada. I really like Canadians. Canada is a beautiful place full of smart and good looking people.
Frankly I never understood why this hasn't always been the case: the Liberals are basically a more elegantly-presented Conservative Party that flip-flops to rake in the largest voter share, so why vote for a copy when you can have the real thing? As for the NDP, they have policies that are similar to those of more progressive Liberal policy, Bloc cultural policy and Green environmental policy, so why not just vote for the party that consolidates all those interests, including to a degree the unrepresented Communist/Marxist vote, under one roof? The fact that it has been otherwise attests to the effectiveness of Liberals' deliberate vagueness and Bloc appeal to separatists--separatism that would become far less relevant with the NDP in federal office.
Nice to see a clear division now. The only thing better would be to abolish all political parties and let MPs directly represent the interests of their whole ridings, without having to cave to party pressure or risk political alienation.
You can blame that on a superficial, socially-alienating youth culture combined with a general distrust/lack of understanding of government. Older folks do so more out of habit--we get plenty of seniors here voting Conservative because they mistakenly think PC is still the party of traditional old-timers like Joe Clark (the neo-con juggernaut that is Harper's party now shares little in common with traditional Tory roots).
Age group participation also depends one where you live: the youth vote did have a big impact, particularly in Quebec (some of the candidates who won are youth! LOL). The point there was to counter the Conservative win by creating a front under the NDP banner (Harper's government has been consistently hostile to Quebec, despite the "Quebec is a nation" speech, so a need to prevent a PC majority placed many of the usual Liberal/Bloc/PQ votes behind the NDP). Combined with a general loss of confidence in the Liberal leadership and strategic voting, you got yesterday's results.
Unless you decide to live deep in the bush or in the outback, you don't really have anything to worry about.... as when you live in the suburbs, towns & cities, you don't see any of them, or it's quite rare.
People say the same thing about Canada's wolves, grizzly bears, black bears, polar bears, coyotes, mountain lions, moose, etc..... they're not poisonous, but they can kill just the same.
So you come in here and bash Canada most days & now here you are trying to bash Australia?

The S&P/TSX composite index is down 242.12 points (1.74%) the day after the Conservatives receive their "much anticipated" majority government.
We've been told, "ad nauseum," that a Conservative majority would bring Canada the kind of economic stability that we've all been missing for the last 5 years of minority government.
The Canadian markets certainly have a strange way of showing their "so-called" support of a Harper majority - one day after the federal election!
You do realize that outside factors also affect the TSX don't you?
