You do realize that outside factors also affect the TSX don't you?

Sheesh! One day after the election and you're questioning the stability of the economy based on a one-day fall of the markets.
there are probably people whose full time job is to do just that.

I think Harper will go down as the LAST (i hope) in a triumverate of NEO-CON mediocrities that have filled the post of PM since the late 1980's.. Brian Mulroney, Jean Chretien, Stephen Harper.

All intellectually inferior political hacks.. lacking any sort of vision of the country. A petilence of the crop of grain seeded by the founding fathers of the country, antithetical to the cutural and political roots that they established.. alllied with foreign, post national interests.. the Global Investment organs of the IMF, WTO, World Bank.

They are weaklings who grovel before their financial power and have sold out our country.. morally, economically, structurally.. to appease them, and beholden to them for their political success through financial and media support ....

It seems that the sourge of the Free Trade Paradigm, and the Culture of Death will have to be fully realized.. in a catastrophic collapse.. before we come to our senses and send these little f@rts packing.

Sheesh! One day after the election and you're questioning the stability of the economy based on a one-day fall of the markets.

Adrian Mastracci, portfolio manager for KCM Wealth Management in Vancouver, said the election probably had minimal effect on the stock market -good or bad.
"The Canadian election to me is a blip (for the stock market)," he said. "To me, the bigger drivers are the commodities, the interest rates, the health of the economy, the health of our trading partner down south (the U.S.)."

TSX suffers first day after big Tory win

"Scheesh - just what "outside" factor(s) can"Mowich" produce that "trumps" (pardon the pun) the "supposed" economic advantageous associated with the Tories achieving a numerical majority?

We aren't discussing some minor fluctuation of Tuesday's S&P/TSX composite index. It was down 242.12 points (1.74%) - the day after the Conservatives won their coveted 1st majority government in 5 years.

By contrast the DOW, was actually up 0.10 points (0.00%) on the same day - and the day after announcing the Bin Laden "assassination!"

For weeks, Harper has led the country to believe that Canada's future depended on the economic stability and business friendly policies that only a Conservative majority could deliver.

Now we are confronted with comments from the business community that "the election probably had minimal effect on the stock market -good or bad," reinforced byTuesday's poor performance on the S&P/TSX.

Both of these directly contradict "The'Gospel' According to Harper" - as "an act of faith," provide "me" with a majority in parliament, and I will now possess the necessary tools to lead the Canadian people to the "Promised Land!"

The definition of a good Conservative has always been someone with a highly selective, short-term memory" (ie. "contempt of parliament") - but surely someone has to drawn the line when Harper's "pronouncements" can't even withstand the test of a 24 hour news cycle!

While the Tories have always excelled in promoting "attack ads" questioning the ability(ies) and motivations of others, they suddenly appear to have developed a "thin-skin" when the rolls are now reversed and their abilities/motivations are put under the microscope

Now that's a compelling argument if I've ever saw one. "Karrie" must be "a member in good standing" of the QP - Quotation Police!

The truth is that once you reach a certain time limit, you are no longer able to edit your post without going through an Administrator!!

Well, it is good to see that you are taking the election results so well! LOL!

At least until May doesn't listen when she's told to stop interrupting and gets punted by the Speaker.;) LOL!

LOL! Good one, shadowshiv! The thing that gets me most about Liz is that she seems unable to speak without forever using cliched phrases, constantly. If she would just come back to earth and talk like the rest of us, I would listen to her more.
