I saw him in an interview yesterday. When asked what sort of music he listened to he responded that he used to like Classic Rock.. but after 9/11 he switched to Popular Country.. because it was more 'patriotic'.
Well that's all i needed to hear. You can't find a more insipid, commercial, phony, intellectually barren genre of music today than Country. It is inundated with boring, repetitive, uninspired music shamelessly pandering to some establishment brand of political orthodoxy.. and draws an audience of the simple and credulous.
Ted Kruz reminds me of that phrase (by Samuel Johnson) that patriotism is "the last refuge of a scoundrel". He even looks a bit like Joe McCarthy to me. I can't believe he'll go far. But then again, no one has ever gone broke underestimating the intelligence of the American people.. and Country music is by far the biggest selling brand in America today.
