And everybody knows what happens when you put all your eggs in one basket.
What is Harper doing to bring jobs home from China and Bangladesh?
I know a few people who work the oil sands and they are saying it is slowing down, that the Yanks are moving their center of operations to the south, to their own oil reserves. I'm beginning to think the oil sands are just another wet dream of those who have no imagination, who believe in pipe dreams. An economy that is based on speculation is bound to crash. It has no substance. Harper is at the helm of the Titanic and those who believe our future lies in unrestricted exploitation of ever shrinking resources are going to die the hardest.

Yes, in absecnce of any other sector that can generate trillions in GDP over the next couple of decades, it's fair to say that the sands are Canada's salvation.

Tories are super-dooper because, well, they just are.

If you think the Canadian economy is a one horse pony based in N.East AB, you're nuckin futs.

Just heard on the radio yesterday that TCPL is going ahead with the preliminaries on reversing a P/L to Eastern Canada... Product to be refined/upgraded in Ontario and Quebec.

It looks like they are pretty confident about it as they haven't made the applications to the Feds for regulatory and licensing purposes... Might be in operation by 2017

Problem is as mentioned when passed as it will be it will take till 2017 for oil to flow. Funny how people are using the derailments as a reason not to but AB oil. Guess they have not figured out pipelines are safer.
Sum kinda bright they are, yep, sum kinda bright. A low sum. Puns galore in there.

Estimate for 30 years and over a Trillion added to the economy- This ain't peanuts we are talking about.
Pays for a ton of social programs, environmental programs, elder care, child care, jobs to pay taxes

Keystone, lack of oil pipeline capacity costing Canada billions: CIBC | Energy | News | Financial Post
The longer this takes the longer current oil trains are getting tanker car by tanker car.

That can't be very green can it?

I mentioned that deal a year ago. It will feed refineries in Ohio first then goes north to PQ.

A rail tanker spill on the lakehead of Superior would get oodles of pipelines approved overnight.

Oil tankers out of Duluth would be a great idea. Get it on the ships ASAP

Imagine all that oil being moved firstly by tanker truck to a rail terminal. Then loaded into a rail car. The to the point of destination- then unloading it and possibly again using tanker trucks.
Think of the GG created. Spills from loading-unloading from a rail car.
Pipeline break - yep- Trains run off the track - yep- pick the one that has the least environmental impact.
Pipelines.

We have the tech to stop using oil in spite of what oil proponents say. Plastics can be made from any oil - hemp oil plastic is 10 times better than that made from crude oil. Billions of domestic animals produce all the fertilizer we need as well as NG. Lots of ways to get off the oil merry-go-round. Biggest thing is getting people to stop buying useless crap they don't need.

Agreed. We need to reduce usage while we work on alternatives.

Using crop space to grow fuel and plastic. Wow, now that's what I call unprecedented stupidity and greed.

Backwater, Ontario.
This includes dispatching his hapless ministers Peter Kent , environment and Joe Oliver, natural resources, to tell Americans bare faced lies about Canada's environmental record."""

Kent and Oliver are to the bare face born.
