CTV.ca | Ignatieff must unite Grits to become PM, experts say

""I think he's getting a running start on rebuilding the Liberal Party in every part of the country," Liberal strategist Steve MacKinnon, who served as Ignatieff's leadership campaign director, told CTV.ca.
"It's going to require continued persistence and drive and an unbelievable amount of energy to do it, but yes, it's a very visible and not a secret part of Liberal strategy that we need to restore our presence in every part of Canada.""

Easier said than done. Iggy's main drawback is that he has the warmth and personality of a cold sore. He manages to make Harper look like he's got a personality. This is a serious drawback for any Liberal leader because usually policy is a weak point for the party and personality, therefore, becomes doubly important. I think the best the Liberals can hope for is that the Conservatives shoot themselves in the foot.

They keep doing that but nobody seems to notice.

Yeah, you are right, they do.

But better them shooting themselves in the foot than any of the other parties shooting us in the head..........

I thought someone would say something like that.

When the NDPeep were in I was one thorn in their side. I had no use for them or their predecessors. What I objected to was the endless character assassination by the media. The NDPeep did nothing any worse than any other party. Even the press started to back peddle two weeks before the media gave Campbell his dictaorship majority, because they realized what a thorough job they had done on assassinating the NDP. Also they realized that without an opposition we would have a dictatorship.

Well, as far as I'm concerned the NDP were amateures compared to the professional prick we have in place now. The BC Liberal/Socred/BC Reform jerk offs are only in it for the money, for themselves and their rich friends. I really think Campbell and crew are the worst gang of crooks to ever take possesion of this province in my life time. And I thought Vanderscam was a crook!

It is time to stop thinking about what is in it for me and start thinking about future generations. They will not have a future as long as we continue to destroy our life support system so we can watch the TV hand us our opinions on a 52" plasma screen. Time to take that little brat inner child out to the wood shed for a good whacking.

Sorry. I went off on a tangent about BC politics but I feel the same way about Harppy and his crew. Fortunately he has a minority government. If he gets a majority he will make Campbell look like a Boy Scout.

This is terrible, Colpy, but I'm starting to agree with you.

Iggy has a facial tic for every emotion. It must be hell for his wife having to look at that during sex.

Maybe she blindfolds herself.

........But, Harpo probably wears a hairnet to bed.

Iggy is a huge step from Dion.
All they need is an approachable sane program that everyone can understand and get behind. Not like their last 'green' thingy they had.
Harper umm....his popularity and double talk may just help the Liberals enough.
It's a crying shame that one government is replaced with another not by good solid programs but by the poor preformance or scandalious actions of the previous one.

Has anyone voted with the thought in mind of 'yeah this program works for me' not the "i'm so pissed I'm voting for the other guy'

Assuming you're not just a one party voter.

You certainly have that right, to be quite frank I've never been impressed with ANYTHING about Ignatieff- but then again that's me, there's just certain species I don't like period, rats and politicians being a couple of them.

Yeah, if old Chretien would have been good looking, he'd still be Prime minister.:lol:
Apparently that facial tic was caused by being kicked in the face when he was a kid- his story anyway. You have to admire the man, tough old bugger.

Too bad Rae didn't get it. I may even have been more willing to put my next X beside a Liberal name. So he wasn't popular in Ontario. Big deal. Anything that isn't designed around money isn't popular in Ontario. Rae was honest enough to say "I can't do it"....

Wasn't it Rae that led Ontario into a financial disaster? He also crossed the floor from N.D.P. to Liberal.

Free Trade and recession led Ontario into financial disaster. The unions didn't like his Social Contract and the people didn't like that he reneged on provincial auto insurance - both of which were necessary due to the economic conditions. He crossed no floor. Rae wasn't in the house when he went back into federal politics.

Why sorry? I vote for whomever I feel will do the best job. I've even voted Tory twice Both were tragic mistakes.

A spoiled ballot is a statement. I have scrutineered a couple of elections and a spoiled ballet is recorded. A small number really doesn't get attention or make a difference - but a lot of them sure will! I've written in my own candidate a couple of times - Mickey Mouse for Prez!
