Actually in theory the Queen is supreme monarch and she does own the lands
for the most part. Crown Land is a term for State owned land except the Queen
is the Queen of Canada at the moment so technically the lands belong to the
office of the Crown, or the Queen.
Yes it is time we had the Monarchy discussion, in one sense I would say get rid of
it, except in this country we have to be aware of our multicultural mess and remember
the land if sold off might fall into serious foreign ownership and not anything like
the crown land we are used to. Kind of like trying to get natives to sell their Reserve
rights..

She cant do anything with the land so this "ownership" would be in name only. She cant come to my front yard and decide to build a fence, or clear a forrest away and make money off of the resources. Saying she owns the land is similar to centuries of Britains monarchs claiming to be the King or Queen of France even when they had no land in France.

I'd say get rid of it as well. The monarchy never should have existed in the first place. The next time the constitution is opened I hope this is dealt with. Though I would not consider this to be the main problem that needs to be fixed. Just something annoying which would be nice to get rid of.

Heck of a good topic Tay!
Scotland has for centuries lost the 'best and the brightest' ( including my one Celtic ancestor). The land tenure system is the 'root cause'.

(Quick note: I'm not taking sides in the Israeli disputes... it is an 'interesting model' in how to effectively pass ownership and usage along until things get 'sorted out' without anarchy..)

It's you who knows nothing about it.

The Queen is the world's biggest landowner. She owns all the land of all the countries of which she is Head of State, including Canada.

She is, by far, the biggest landowner on the planet, owning 6.6 billion acres of land. She's the only person on Earth who owns whole countries.

Try researching it before indulging in foul-mouthed abuse. I'm afraid you're the troll here. The Queen owns Canada.

What a bunch of horse sh-t! While the queen herself might own some land in Canada, to say she owns Canada is just silly. A sizable amount of land in Canada is owned by corporations and private persons who do not report to the queen. What we call "crown land", has nothing to do with the queen or any of that group of incestuous hemopheliacs you call the royal family.

What is a State?
I'm in a state of anxiety over this whole issue. I cannot state clearly what my position is on it. The state of Canada's relationship with the Queen is in a terrible state as no one can agree what to do about it.

Don't pay him no mind. It's just an aged and toothless lion grumbling 'bout what he COULD do if he wasn't such a nice fella. Leave him to his walking frame and television, he's done.

It is only a technicality. The Queen/King signed over most of their lands generations ago.
Let him carry on on with his silly little dream of grandeur.

The Queen is the legal owner of the whole of Britain, not just England.

She's also the legal owner of the whole of Canada and all the other 14 nations over which she reigns.

She's the biggest landowner on Earth.
QueenE can kiss my dog's ****.

That so?

Well, we've got some land related issues down my way and I think that it's high time that the monarchy kicked a few bucks into the kitty for all of the improvements, upkeep and their share of the property taxes.

She can make the cheque out me... Tell her to PM me here at CC and we'll discuss the over due payments.

Cheerio,

CM
Ditto.

Who Owns the World - “Queen Elizabeth II the largest landowner on Earth.” | Locals Supporting Locals

Largest five personal landowners on Earth

Queen Elizabeth II: 6,600 million acres
King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia: 553 million acres
King Bhumibol of Thailand: 126 million acres
King Mohammed IV of Morocco: 113 million acres
Sultan Quaboos of Oman: 76 million acres
Funny, I have never seen QueenE in real life but she doesn't look all that large. Actually looks in pretty decent shape for her age. I have no idea who the dudes are.

I'm emailing her and telling her you think she's large and big.

Ultimately, all states own all the land within their borders. The idea of private property is an illusion. Any rights you may have to your property is from the permission of the state, which can be rescinded. There's no point in singling out Queen Elizabeth II. Her property ownership of several whole countries is symbolic. At any time the states she represents can remove her from her position. The states, not her, actually own the land.

And today feels like a fine day to do just that.

Assuming the state has the power to enforce its will. Many don't.

India is sure making her look like the world's biggest slumlord. LOL. ;)
