So were is the socialist party going to get all the money to pay for this?

I am doubtful that not paying the debt will help.

Leftists the world over believe in magic. It's as if they can't bring themselves to accept the existence of external reality. From a detached standpoint this magical thinking is fascinating to watch as its implementation is attempted.

It's nothing other than willful ignorance.

It amazes me that Greece has made this decision despite seeing the socialist failure of Hollande's failed tax policy in France.

.. All one can really do is shake your head and watch as the train speeds down the track at the blinded Greek deer standing on the tracks.

Europe bails them out and now the new socialist party wants their debt partially erased.

EL OH EL

It is time for the EU to let a nation like Greece default to set an example.

These policies do not work.

I don't think taxpayers in countries like Germany and Britain are going to want to keep handing over their money to help the greedy Greeks. There is a time when they will say "Enough is enough". If the Greeks won't opt for austerity measures to get their economy back in the red then it's time they stopped taking other people's money.

This is, of course, a disaster.
The neo-Nazis getting properly spanked is the only good thing.

The Far-Right are now in power in Greece.

Syriza (which is the synonym of Synaspismós Rizospastikís Aristerás ("Coalition of the Radical Left") have formed a coaliton government with a party known as Independent Greeks ("Anexartitoi Ellines"), who are a Far-Right, anti-Semitic party but who are also anti-austerity.

Their party leader, Panos Kammenos, said Greece had become a "laboratory animal" in an austerity experiment conducted by the IMF and EU (who, along with the ECB, are collectively known as "The Troika"), who "used the public debt as a means of control."

They have many good points: they are anti-EU, and Kammenos has said: “Germany is not treating Greece as a partner but as its master. ... It tries to turn a Europe of independent states into a Europe dominated by Germany.” The party also calls for German war reparations. Greece was invaded and occupied by Germany during WWII and that's the main reason why there is so much anti-German sentiment in Greece. They also oppose multiculturalism and want to reduce immigration.

They voted against austerity because - like Southern Europeans in general - they are a greedy but lazy and workshy people who never pay their taxes on time and who want everything for nothing, even when the country cannot afford it and it puts them in great debt, which has led to the wealthy, mainly Northern European countries whose people work hard for a living and pay their taxes on times - like Germany and Britain - having to bail them out. And when we finally get them on a sensible and MUCH NEEDED programme of anti-austerity to reduce their huge debt and try and get their economy back on track, the Greeks then go out and vote for a Far-Left, anti-austerity party which just wants to go out and spend even more money that Greece hasn't got and give the Greeks lots of unaffordable freebies, like free electricity, which will only put their country FURTHER into debt and further into crisis, which could end up pushing Greece out of the Eurozone, once Greece has inflicted great damage on it.

Yeah? Have you got any proof of that? The Greeks, like others in Southern Europe, have skinted themselves through widespread profligacy and tax evasion, leading to countries like Germany and Britain having to give them billions of euros to bail them out. And what thanks do we get? All we get is the Greeks voting for an economically incompetent Left-wing party that will push the country further into the debt. Greece needs austerity to get it out of the mire, just like what the British have been doing with their austerity measures.

If you're in huge debt on your credit card, do you go out and keep spending on it and pushing yourself further into debt, or do you take the necessary measures to reduce it? Commonsense says you go for the latter yet, by voting for this Left-wing party, the Greeks are going for the former.

Only if thieving Canada and every other thieving country in the world empty all their museums of all foreign treasures and artworks and send them back to their countries of origin. I wonder how many ancient Greek, ancient Egyptian etc artefacts are currently residing in Canadian museums.

I just finished writing a long post but I just realized it won't matter with you, you're stuck in your own fictitious world and spread propaganda about it. You have contempt for all nations and people because you are under some sick belief the British are God's gift to mankind and you are not just trolling about it, you actually believe it. Seek help.

I love riling the Lefties. I can tell when I'm winning. That's when they all start ranting and raving and foaing at the mouth. They can't put across any cogent arguments to counter what I'm saying - quite naturally, because unlike them I talk sense - and instead just foam at the mouth and go on a mad rant. You're all like Mad Gerald.

It's not me who needs to seek help. It's you and anybody else who think that Syriza are a credible political party to govern Greece in its current financial position, when it needs austerity measures rather than more spending. It was spending which got Greece into the mess it's in. Yet you Left-wing numpties want skint Greece to spend MORE money that it doesn't have. You're balmpots and need medical attention, pronto.

And there's only going to be a little bit of time before the British and Germans tell the greedy Greeks that they aren't going to send them any more of their money now that they've voted to keep spending spending spending.

Did anyone notice that the Golden Dawn Party came in third place in the election?

They would have won it had they offered to keep pampering the greedy Greeks and offering them the arithmetically impossible and to keep spending money that Greece doesn't have. As it is, Golden Dawn's economic policies must be rather sensible.

Of course, the Far-Right have still taken power in Greece. Those left-wing loons in Syriza have formed a coalition with the Independent Greeks.

I don't know if the money they received is all they are scheduled to get.

But I do know that they want a portion of the bail out debt erased.

Greece will on a form of 'national-welfare' for years to come. The EU knows this and that's why I don't think that anyone is really hitting the panic button on this

If they resort to the old ways they will revert back to being unsustainable. I doubt this party can simply turn back the clock.

They would need to turn the clock back at least 50 years.

Greece is insolvent right now and without operating funds from the EU, they will be forced to actually collect taxes (let alone raise the rates) in addition to severely cutting the size of gvt.

They can threaten all they want, but in the end, any rejection of the austerity program required by the EU will simply result in their nation falling deeper into a full depression and the decay of their infrastructure and institutions.

Election results or not, they don't have any choice in this at all

Interesting is right.

What makes me shake my head is that 49% (or whatever that party got in votes) are so blind to reality as they actually think that acting like a 4 year old having a tantrum will change anything and have this massive debt just go away.

I think that they have been living in this fantasy land for so long that it has become the norm and expectation
