Where were all the cameras during Operation Cast Lead?

Drug addicts were rounded up also weren't they, that would mean they were at some point made to be 'undesirables' to the 'masses'.

Regarding the poll - Do you agree that EAO is slanted in his questions - along with being a plain Idiot - For our mods - idiot is a medical term - so it should pass the smell test - which the poll questions do not.

Why not pick something that hasn't been in the news so much. Dubai, odd that you know the real number of Mossad operatives involved.

No more than your poll questions. Human rights should explain it all in those two words. Convincing the ultra rich to empty their pockets of excess cash is about the only way to raise the standard of living for the least well of in the human race. Would you take them on to feed your 2 grandkids?

I have a problem with anyone who condemns all Jews and Israelis for Israeli war crimes. That makes you no better than people who believe all Muslims are terrorists or people who believe all Americans are responsible for the war crimes committed by the Bush regime.

Not all Jews are Zionists. Millions of Jews actively oppose Zionism (in its current form) and openly condemn it. Even among the Zionists, many support it only as a peaceful non-violent movement and oppose/condemn violence.

Examples of Israeli Jews who support human rights and condemn Israeli war crimes and crimes against humanity:

You might want to read this article by a Zionist Israeli Jew
Jews who want to see Jews leave Israel - Haaretz - Israel News

The real problem are people who commit war crimes and crimes against humanity and their supporters. That includes many people who have posted in this thread. Some war criminals and their supporters are Jews and some aren't. Most Israeli war criminals are Zionists, but not all Zionists commit or support war crimes. Not all Zionists are Jewish. Some Christians are Zionists and openly support Israeli war crimes and crimes against humanity. Some of the worst war criminals in Israel are Druze, not Jewish or Zionist. Example:

...An Israeli army officer who fired the entire magazine of his automatic rifle into a 13-year-old Palestinian girl and then said he would have done the same even if she had been three years old was acquitted on all charges by a military court yesterday.

The soldier, who has only been identified as "Captain R", was charged with relatively minor offences for the killing of Iman al-Hams who was shot 17 times as she ventured near an Israeli army post near Rafah refugee camp in Gaza a year ago.
The manner of Iman's killing, and the revelation of a tape recording in which the captain is warned that she was just a child who was "scared to death", made the shooting one of the most controversial since the Palestinian intifada erupted five years ago even though hundreds of other children have also died.

After the verdict, Iman's father, Samir al-Hams, said the army never intended to hold the soldier accountable...

...Although the military speculated that Iman might have been trying to "lure" the soldiers out of their base so they could be attacked by accomplices, Capt R made the decision to lead some of his troops into the open. Shortly afterwards he can be heard on the recording saying that he has shot the girl and, believing her dead, then "confirmed the kill".

"I and another soldier ... are going in a little nearer, forward, to confirm the kill ... Receive a situation report. We fired and killed her ... I also confirmed the kill. Over," he said.

Palestinian witnesses said they saw the captain shoot Iman twice in the head, walk away, turn back and fire a stream of bullets into her body...

The army's initial investigation concluded that the captain had "not acted unethically". But after some of the soldiers under his command went to the Israeli press to give a different version, the military police launched a separate investigation after which he was charged.

Capt R claimed that the soldiers under his command were out to get him because they are Jewish and he is Druze...

Israeli officer: I was right to shoot 13-year-old child | World news | The Guardian

If it wasn't for the testimony of Jewish soldiers who witnessed this murder, this officer would not have faced a trial. However, the Jewish soldiers all retracted their previous statements...

People critical of Israeli war crimes and crimes against humanity should take care not to confuse the issue or assume all Jews and Israelis support Israeli war crimes and crimes against humanity.

Judaism is not the problem. People who commit war crimes, crimes against humanity and their supporters are the problem. Judaism is a religion of peace and tolerance. People who comit war crimes and crimes against humanity in the name of Judaism pervert the true meaning of this religion and are no different than people who pervert the true meaning of Islam to commit acts of terrorism.

Many Jews and Israelis have risked their lives to stand shoulder to shoulder with Palestinian victims in order to protest and resist Israeli war crimes and crimes against humanity. They have done far more than people who have only made posts on a forum. We have no right to criticize these people who are our allies in the struggle for Palestinians freedom and justice.

...Friday, 5/3/2010-In Bil'in dozens suffered from gas inhalation when troops suppressed a march against the Israeli occupation organized by the Popular Committee Against the Wall and settlements. The demonstration was a manifestation against the wall being built on Bil'in's land and the annexation and expansion of Israeli apartheid. The occupation forces fired tear gas towards the citizens of Bil'in, foreign peace activists and peace-loving Israelis...

Friends of Freedom and Justice Bilin Official Website

The conflict in the Middle East took on an especially cinematic quality Friday, when activists representing a small Palestinian village dressed up like the oppressed aliens from the blockbuster movie "Avatar" before staging a demonstration in front of the Israeli West Bank barrier...

...Immediately drawing a parallel between the Israelis who have joined their movement and Avatar’s human hero-turned-alien Jake Sully, Khatib and his fellow activists began planning the event. Ibrahim al Kadi, a visual artist from a nearby village, was recruited to handle makeup. Others gathered rubbish to use as makeshift props.

Six days later, five protesters, including three Israelis, marched up to the Israeli Army blockade in full Na’vi gear. As they chanted for an end to the occupation of their lands, a bevy of journalists and various onlookers followed...

bilin-village.org | The Making of the West Bank's 'Avatar' Protest

Millions Jews and Israelis find themselves in a similar situation as millions of Americans who opposed Bush's Iraq war crimes and crimes against humanity. Since they were a minority, they were powerless to stop Bush despite their best efforts. Millions of Jews and Israelis who oppose Israeli war crimes and crimes against humanity are not responsible for Palestinian suffering. Treating these people as if they were the same as war criminals and their supporters adds further insult to injury.

Justice Goldstone, the judge who led the UN human rights mission to Gaza is Jewish, His report criticizes all war crimes or crimes against humanity in Gaza by anyone regardless of religion or nationality. Anyone who believes Goldstone's report was only critical of Israel obviously hasn't read the report and is misinformed.
United Nations Fact Finding Mission on the Gaza conflict

Anyone who supports Israeli war crimes and crimes against humanity is either uninformed or callous. No compassionate human being can support gunning down innocent women and children in cold blood, using children as hiuman shields, attacking civilians with chemical weapons... and so on. If you didn't know that Israel committed these war crimes and many others, then I suggest that you inform yourself and read the above report.

This is a debate about war criminals and people who commit crimes against humanity or Israel's version of Apartheid.

The majority of people in the world, don't support war criminals or people who commit crimes against humanity with no exceptions. The majority viewpoint internationally is that Israel is a rogue state which commits atrocities with impunity. Among us who condemn Israeli war crimes and crimes against humanity are millions of Jews and Israelis. I welcome them as allies in the struggle for Palestinian justice and freedom.

So please focus your criticism on those responsible. Millions of Jews and Israelis who oppose Israeli war criminals are a critical part of the struggle to end Israeli Appartheid. Don't let the war criminals and their supporters divide us. We must unite to end this injustice and oppression.

You are so right. In fact, that was the entire point of operation Cast Lead... Israel got their arses wiped in Lebanon in 2006. The electorate blamed their leaders. So they needed a successful war to improve their election chances:

Coincidence?

Even the Israeli opposition noticed the timing of operation Cast Lead...
...Following a six-month ceasefire Israel launched a cross-border military incursion into Gaza last month, provoking a barrage of missiles.

Analysts, and some politicians, argue that the real motivation behind the military operation is ambitious Israeli politicians and the upcoming Israeli elections due Feb. 10.

During heated debates in the Israeli Knesset, or parliament, Israeli-Arab Knesset Members (MKs) accused the Israeli government of waging a war for electioneering purposes.

MK Ahmed Tibi told a Knesset gathering, "There are those who are counting bodies and at the same time counting Knesset seats. Bodies for votes, this is done primarily by the Labour Party."

Israeli Defence Minister Ehud Barak is chairman of the Labour Party and a candidate for premiership. He is the main architect of the Gaza operation and stands the most to gain politically.

"There are those who are profiting from Palestinian blood in order to get elected," added MK Mohammed Barakeh. Both MKs were subsequently evicted from the plenum.

Israel has a history of becoming dangerous and overly militaristic around election time. Many of the country's leaders have been military men who were seen by the Israeli public as strong men who could take care of Israel's security needs.

Israel's Grapes of Wrath campaign into Lebanon in 1996 came during election time. Nearly 150 Lebanese civilians sheltering in a UN base near Qana in the south of Lebanon died as a result of Israeli shelling. It has been hotly disputed whether the shelling was deliberate or accidental.

The outbreak of the second Intifadah, the Palestinian uprising, in 2000 followed a controversial visit to Al-Aqsa Mosque by former prime minister Ariel Sharon, despite warnings from his own security advisors and the Jerusalem police. He became prime minister the following year after campaigning on an Al-Aqsa uprising platform.

"Two months after Ehud Olmert was elected Israel's prime minister, the Second Lebanon War broke out in 2006. Two months before Olmert departs, the military campaign in the south breaks out," commented Israeli analyst and journalist Yossi Verter in the Israeli daily Haaretz....

The operation conveniently ended just before Obama was sworn in as President and would be forced to make a comment.

What constitutes a violation of a ceasefire agreement to you eao?

Could a tunnel, with the expressed purposes of attacking Israeli's be a breach?

If not, why not?

As usual no proof is given that a tunnel existed.

"The IDF Spokesperson emphasizes that this was a pinpoint operation intended to prevent an immediate threat. There is no intention to disrupt the calm, rather the purpose of the operation was to remove an immediate and dangerous threat posed by the Hamas terror organization. The building of the tunnel, located adjacent to the security fence, and intended for the abduction of Israeli soldiers, is a blatant violation of the calm.
The uncovering of the tunnel was facilitated by the joint efforts of the IDF Intelligence Branch, the Southern Command and the ISA."

Speaking of violation of the calm wouldn't Israel also be in breach of that long before Nov4.

The Facts about Israel’s War on Gaza
By Adam Sheets, January 1, 2009
It is crucial that one has her/his facts straight about Israel’s war on Gaza. What events
brought about this dreadful situation? What needs to be done to make it stop? These
questions will be answered in the content of this article, using concrete facts from a
variety of news sources.
Let’s first investigate the recent cease-fire between Israel and Hamas. The cease-fire
began in June 2008. The terms were as follows:
1. Israel would drastically reduce its military blockade of Gaza.
2. Israel would halt all military incursions into Gaza.
3. Hamas would halt all rocket attacks into Israel.
From the outset of the cease-fire, Israel did little to ease its military blockade. As a
result, Gazans continued to suffer from a lack of food, fuel, financial aid, electricity,
clean water, medical supplies, and more. This has been, inarguably, an attack on
innocent Palestinian civilians.
Gaza faces a humanitarian "catastrophe" if Israel continues to prevent aid
reaching the territory by blocking crossing points, the head of the main UN
aid agency for the Palestinians said on Friday... Israel had restricted goods
into Gaza despite the truce, which calls on militants to halt rocket attacks in
return for Israel easing its embargo on the territory... Israel also held up
deliveries of European Union-funded fuel for the power plant, which
generates about a third of the electricity consumed by Gazans... Ailments
associated with insufficient food were surfacing among the impoverished
coastal strip's 1.5 million population, including growing malnutrition.
--Haaretz Israel News, Nov. 21, 2008 [1]
A former UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Mary Robinson, has told
the BBC she was taken aback by the "terrible" conditions in Gaza on a recent
visit. Mrs Robinson said it was "almost unbelievable" that the world did not
care about what she called "a shocking violation of so many human rights"...
Israel tightened a blockade on Gaza after Hamas took control there in 2007...
"Their whole civilisation has been destroyed, I'm not exaggerating," said Mrs
Robinson...Israel says the blockade, under which it has allowed little more
than basic humanitarian aid into Gaza, is needed to isolate the militant
group and stop it and other militants from firing rockets into Israel. Israel
came to a truce with Palestinian groups in June this year, but Mrs Robinson
said this had had little effect on people's lives and "just brought a bitter taste
in the mouth".
--BBC News, Nov. 4, 2008 [2]

Following the end of the cease-fire, Israel moved closer to an invasion of the territory.
The Israeli government claimed that this was the only remaining option to eliminate
rocket attacks from Gaza. However, as cited in the sources above, this was clearly not
the case. Israel had failed to abide by the terms of the cease-fire. For the overwhelming
majority of the six-month truce, Israel had refused to ease its military blockade of Gaza to
any significant degree. In addition, it was the initial violator of the cease-fire when it sent
tanks and aircraft into Gaza and killed six Palestinians on November 4, 2008. In fact,
there is evidence that Israel was planning to strike Gaza even while the cease-fire was
still in effect.
Barak told the assembled lawmakers that the defense establishment spent
months preparing for the Gaza operation.
--Haaretz Israel News, Dec. 29, 2008 [16]
Sources in the defense establishment said Defense Minister Ehud Barak
instructed the Israel Defense Forces to prepare for the operation over six
months ago, even as Israel was beginning to negotiate a ceasefire agreement
with Hamas.
--Haaretz Israel News, Dec. 31, 2008 [20]

Under your support for their justification of digging a tunnel as being equal to a weapon being aimed and fired (hence the term fire in cease-fire) then the above planning is more than equal as being justification for pre-emptive action.

The tunnel (proof one existed) could have been collapsed from the Israeli side of the fence. Going into an armed camp in the middle of the night is sure to attract attention and gunfire. Why not make a formal request to have a 'unarmed team' be escorted to the site so it can be inspected. If the Police were already actively going after the ones firing the few rockets into the desert then I'm sure 'abduction tunnels' would also be on the list.

Israeli troops crossed into the Gaza Strip late last night near the town of Deir al-Balah. The Israeli military said the target of the raid was a tunnel that they said Hamas was planning to use to capture Israeli soldiers positioned on the border fence 250m away. Four Israeli soldiers were injured in the operation, two moderately and two lightly, the military said.
One Hamas gunman was killed and Palestinians launched a volley of mortars at the Israeli military. An Israeli air strike then killed five more Hamas fighters. In response, Hamas launched 35 rockets into southern Israel, one reaching the city of Ashkelon.
"This was a pinpoint operation intended to prevent an immediate threat," the Israeli military said in a statement. "There is no intention to disrupt the ceasefire, rather the purpose of the operation was to remove an immediate and dangerous threat posted by the Hamas terror organisation."

What is a Zionists?
Zionists believe that the Jews are a people and deserve a country of their own. Zionists believe in Zionism, the national liberation movement of the Jewish people. Zionism is not against anyone and it is not racist. Zionism implements the right of self determination of the Jewish people.
Until the 19th century, almost every Jew was a Zionist at heart, but there was no Zionist movement, and therefore no political Zionism. Theodor Herzl founded the Zionist political movement, though he was not the first Zionist. This is the real truth about Zionism and Zionists. Read about the History of Zionism and Zionists.

Nothing wrong with being a Zionist.
