Politicians should hold a philosophy degree and have some teaching experience.

Much more useful than anything to do with economics anyway.

To ensure he has a basic understanding of economics.

I'm thinking premiers too.

As someone with two degrees and who knows many others who have them I can tell you a degree in itself ensures nothing.

Politicians should hold a philosophy degree and have some teaching experience.

Much more useful than anything to do with economics anyway.

I believe it was Paul Martin who said in reference to people calling Harper an economist, “I have a philosophy degree but I wouldn’t call myself a philosopher.” I have a degree in history and another in business administration. I’m neither a historian nor someone who runs a business.

Is that a maxim that people actually believe?

Persons of the mental wattage of JLM, perhaps. Those unable to grasp that many teachers are high-level practitioners in their fields. My Civil Procedure professor was a Special Master to the Supreme Court on civil procedure, for example.

roflmfao. Totally useless degree that with 3 days of training might qualify you to pump gas at a self serve.

"Those who can DO and those who can't TEACH"!

And those that can't even teach administrate.

Is that a maxim that people actually believe?

Yes. Well based in fact.

... Kinda like a woman that wears a short skirt and leaves a few buttons on her shirt undone is begging for sex, right?

Maybe she is. :) :) :)

... hardly, however, any union that elects to hold an entire community hostage via strikes is automatically put under the microscope.

You have grand daughters, don't you?

... Have that conversation with them and see what they have to say

The operative word was "maybe" - I fully realize it's not the norm. :)
