They are saying it's going to hit ground tonight.

WHo are they? besides media. Like the runup to an election a bunch of knownothings asking other knownothings their opinion about something that isn't going to happen.

News report on Global that a tug will be on site tomorrow.
Still a poor response when they want to ship more oil on the coast.

Catch 22. There is no oil to speak of being shipped and not likely to be for some time so why would there be any infrastructure in place to prevent such an incident? If there were tankers running from Kitimat there would be tugs powerful enough to tow a supertanker within about 12 hrs run from where this ship is.

As bill noted the current runs parallel to the coast in that area although 3 different news casts put the ship in different areas.

Strange or not, I think it's a question that has to be answered. For starters I would say every reasonable precaution has to be identified and taken. I think all hazards (within reason) have to be identified and have a protocol in place to deal with them as they arise. But we have to accept also there is very little that can be done if a 9.3 earthquake happens right under the boat.

of course.

all of these corporations must know that they are being monitored at all times, they must know that they
can't cheat, can't ignore any safety rules, can't let their vessels become less than in perfect condition
at all times, after that, if nature does a dirty deed, so be it, but the earth comes first, not the
need for big profits, or oil at any cost.

society must make sure they are on top of any of the low lifes that want to slide under the radar with
their old clunkers, those days must be over, and real people who have respect for their environment
must lead the charge and care for their lands.

The ultimate goal of any shipping company is to sink ships. It's a fact.
