It is said that syphilis entered the human domain from sheep.

The people who got this kid charged are probably the same ones who would organize anti-PETA spin campaigns to defend the right to butcher sheep with butter knives.

From a law enforcement psotion, why put the kid through this? A simple visit to his home along with a talk with his parents would surely have been enough to put a halt, or alter, the kids actions. Instead, they parade him through the justice system for amusement in the National Enquirer, assuring him a future life of complete humilation and misery.

This kid did it multiple times though, breaking into to the barn in the process. If it was a one time thing, I would agree he would just need a stern talking to. When you do this sort of thing dozens of times, you are deserving of a trip through the justice system + public humiliation.

If I caught this guy abusing my animals in such a fashion he'd be lucky to be paraded through the justice system....it would mean he survived being strung up by his pecker!

With some people, public humiliation just won't work.

Honour our Fallen
Seriously.
The guy has problems big time,i'm with kreskin humiliation might not have helped the situation. But a trip to a psycharatrist is needed big time here.
How is this person going to fit in with human relationships when he gets older.
My god what is going to be thinking on his honeymoon8O during the nuptuals...the perfect wife braying away during sex8O

I think this all stems from the impact of the bible stating man has dominion over the earth. It was taken to heart especially during the beginning of the industrial revelution and it is plain to see in how we treat anything and everything on this planet

Not even a pact with God could hold back this young man, the seduction by the sheep was too strong to resist.

You might want to have him wash it first.

So, really, nobody can come up with more than comical reasons for banning bestiality.

Karrie, I think it was you who commented upon "rupture" for some animals - that would be covered by the idea of cruelty. That is a separate issue. Cruelty is wrong.

In Edwards Albee's (Tony Award-winning) play, "The Goat, or Who Is Sylvia?", the lead character falls into romantic love with a goat (Sylvia).

The goat apparently recriprocates this love. Don't ask, it's covered in the play. As Albee sets things up, it is an apparently consensual relationship.

Friends have said this is impossible. Having worked around goats, I assert that if there is something a goat does not want to do, it will let you know.

So assuming you are not "rupturing" the beast, and it is a critter that can demonstrate consent, where is the ethical transgression?
