It is also the scene of 4,000+ years of the same issues and culture, the inherent violence of which have been kept alive by western interference and stifling of the democratic process there. The US is the New World, full of real and potential wealth and prosperity. Mind you the US right wing since Reagan has focused successfully on killing the US middle class, so maybe more violence is coming? Often in recent years I have read Americans bragging on the Internet about US forces killing Third World women and children. US sniper Chris Kyle wrote a book about his kills and the US media featured him in televised news shows bragging about it. Conservative US bloggers express great delight with stories like Kyle's, often saying that more people should be shot in their own countries. .

The vast majority of Muslims are peaceful people the same as the vast majority of Christians are peaceful people, even though both religions have parts of their bibles that demand they be violent. Politics and political leaders are the problems. Many Islamics see all Western leaders as evil "Christians". Many Christians see all Middle Eastern leaders as evil Muslims. The problem-causing political leaders are not representative of their entire faiths.

The current spate of religious intolerance is no different than the racial and religious intolerance and anti-Jewish pogroms that used to infect Europe and caused so many problems.
