Sean Spicer quits after Trump taps financier to head White House communications

Longtime supporter Anthony Scaramucci expected to start in August

White House press secretary Sean Spicer has resigned, according to sources, after U.S. President Donald Trump picked Wall Street financier and his longtime supporter Anthony Scaramucci to be his White House communications director.

Currently at the Export-Import Bank, Scaramucci is expected to start his new job in August, according to a White House official.

Spicer had been serving as both communications director and press secretary following the departure of communications director Michael Dubke in May.

According to a report in the New York Times, Spicer strongly objected to Scaramucci's appointment, saying it was a major mistake.

I don't think he was very effective. Someone like Trump needs a combat warrior as a spokesman. The press, CNN, NYT, Washington Post will ambush and mug any 'nice guy'.

Steve Bannon was a Naval officer as well. Strikes me a more of archetype than Spicer. Bannon served on a Destroyer as Surface Warfare Officer and then as Special Assistant of the Chief of Naval Operations. Spicer would make a good Laundry and Moral officer on Navy supply ship.

I don't like John Wayne movies. My vast knowledge comes from other sources, some of it practical in value.

I would think that to be in charge of communication, you probably should be a good communicator, and be able to convey the message that the White House wants to convey.


I think this role will be a bad place for anyone, because the WH doesn't seem to know what message it wants to convey.

Totally different press conference. The new guy is one slick operator. And Trump die hard devote.

The plus is that except for his proclamations of affection for Trump......... it was one of the better press briefings in the last six months. He is just smoother when not answering questions '-)

He makes Sarah look clumsy . So as far as optics go........ an improvement.

Let's see ow this shake up affects the overall performance of the administration.

It must be tough living a lie, like that ... being Trump's press secretary and all. He must have noticed that his nose was getting a little longer, every day while having to defend the indefensible.

What Trump NEEDS and demands is LOYALTY and like minded people around him. Did you watch the fawning and loving messages the new communications person demonstrated during the press briefing. His words and behavior is exactly what Trump wants. He does not want anyone that remotely questions anything Trump says or does........let alone offers criticism. He wants nothing but compliments and praise in some pathological love in .He does not want independent thinkers. that add new ideas to the group. It is HIS way or no way........as we have seen for six months.

He is an autocrat His supporters like that style. as true loyalists do.
