Northern Ontario,
It took awhile though didn't it? If you want to troll T-Bones I can troll with the best of them.
I think he never read or understood the OP before posting, and instead of admitting it early in the thread, he tried to talk his way out of it. Not the only one doing that in the forum heh?8O

great collection of stats but it bugs me when I read the ending statement of 'dogs aren't born bad, they're made bad'. How ridiculous. Dogs are born as animals with claws, teeth, and a prey drive. When dogs attack it is despite our attempts to train them, rarely due to an active or even accidental attempt to make them bad dogs. They simply are animals doing what animals do.

Yup....You can't completely train out animal instinct in a single member of a breed when a feature of their breeding ha been ingrained for multiple generations......

And when the pit bull attacks it is often nasty and bloody. They don't seem like to nip.

Actually, they're veracious nippers.

They do it all the time. Add Red Healer to the mix and your heals will never be the same, unless you train it out of them.

It works much better if you wrap your hands in waterweeds before grabbing legs. :)

I will keep that in mind should the opportunity ever arise again. :D

I thought the signature of a pit bull was that they locked their jaws and it's nearly impossible to pry them open.

Ah wuz a'readin in the Ottywaw Citoyne bout this here idjit in BC who owned a pit bull yesterday.

Unforrtunately the godddddammmSOBfreakinmonstersh iteatincanine got loose and bit a kid on the face.............kid was next door........dog went through the fence.

300 freakin stitches on the kid's face..........Years of plastic surgery , pain and suffering still to come.

Freaky thing: the kid's chihuahua attacked the pit and drew it off the little girl. By the time the pit decided to go back and attack the kid again, the "owner" came over and grabbed the pit.

Here's the nice part: The owner said her dog should be put down, and it was.

Here's the bad part: The owner still is alive.

NO AMOUNT OF TRAINING OR SOCIALIZATION WILL EVER TURN A PIT INTO A GOOD DOG. They are a time bomb with an unknown fuse. Unfortunately, when they blow up, kids are usually in the way.

If you own one, find it a new home............the bottom of some hole will do.

In Ont. there is a law against owning a pitbull. BUT: If you owned one before the law was passed, you can still have it. Muzzled on leash.

LIBERAL BULL SH IT LAW::

1. Breed it with a Lab...............it's now a cross............legal

2. Lie like a bastard............Welfare "clients" with pit puppies walking uptown with the dog on leash with NO muzzle----------cops do sh it................WE owned this here dog for 6 year an a bit.

3. Breed it with a Rottie.............it's now a complete idiot. (sorry Ron)

At least our surgeons are getting practise.

Gutless govt. Suck a **** for a vote.

I was reading up on them since these threads have taken off and they like to clamp their jaws down and shake. Just look at some of the clips out there if you can stomach them. People are kicking and pounding on them, even their owners... once they set their mind to attacking they are hard to stop. They seem impervious to pain.

Yeah, tenaciousness doesn't seem to be a problem for them does it? Goes to the argument that not "just anyone" should have one. Still I have a difficult time blaming the animal for being what it is, especially since we bred it to be that way in the first place. I'm of the mindset that once we domestic an animal, and particularly if we mess with it's traits with selective breeding, we (people) bear ultimate responsibility for it.

I think everyone in here is well aware that an animal will do what an animal does and is not responsible. That does not change the fact of the destruction they cause when they attack. I don't think they should be bred.

It seems that when they mix the breed there is less incidence of bite attacks........or is it because the number of mix breeds is lower than pure breeds?????

Mutts have always made better pets. Breeds were designed for singular purposes mostly and really do not seem to have the range of character and predisposition to certain diseases and ailments that breeds do.
