Evidently something you fear. Why?
Fear? More like mock.
How old were you when you decided Religion wasn't for you?
Evidently something you fear. Why?
They don't do personal prayer in public. Prayer for others can be done in public. Besides, all they do is hear The Lord's Prayer over a PA system. Probably 100%of them don't actively listen but they may grow up knowing it. If there is a God, lucky them and should there not be, it won't matter.I find it to be interesting that folks demand to be able to pray in school when Jesus requested that people not pray in public.
JLM I remember in my day in the early fifties we had the Lords prayer
even a passage from the bible. I hated going to church by the time I
was six and I resented both.
Religion has a purpose. To keep your scurvy azz in line son. .I'm open to most opinions about religion and for myself I have more problems with the people involved with the religion than religion itself. I started going to Sunday School when I was about 6 years old and from the age of 8 or 9 started attending the Anglican Church services at the insistence of my mother and like you I hated it. I think Mother's main reason for attending was she didn't want to take "any chances". I did come out of it believing in things like the Golden Rule and basic ethics like honesty so in those ways I suppose it didn't harm me. Early on I did twig on to the fact a lot of hypocrites attend church. I kind of like the modern expression "Attending church no more makes you religious than sitting in a garage makes you a mechanic".
