btw my own opinion is that you attack the legality of arms manufacturing.

you shut down gun dealers, especially the ones making cheap handguns for the illegal market.

I have one good thing to say about this; at least this guy understands what the Second Amendment means, and knows that to restrict ownership of firearms it is necessary to repeal the Second Amendment.

And that simply ain't gonna happen, as it requires a 2/3 majority in both the House and the Senate, and then ratification by 37 states..

Good luck.

And it is a damned good thing, because a successful drive to kill the Second would set off a rebellion.

And guess which side has the guns?.

I think it should be amended to be clearer. The whole debate is because it is obtuse and open to many different interpretations, as has been witnessed in most discussions on here about it. Something written 200 + years ago doesn't really have much validity in these times.

Well, the First, Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, Eighth, and Ninth are pretty much dead letters anyhow.

I'll give up my Third Amendment rights when they pry my cold, dead fingers from around them!

Oh? We already restrict and regulate ownership of automatic weapons, short-barreled rifles and shotguns, and who can own a gun. So I guess by your standard, the Second Amendment has already been repealed.

As Scalia said in Heller, the government may restrict the types of firearms the people may keep, as well as who may keep them.

Interestingly, the ONLY right in the Bill of Rights that is restricted for discharged felons and the mentally ill is the Second Amendment. If you were the purist you claim to be, you would be banging on about the right of felons and the insane to own guns.

Are you saying that if the 2nd amendment were legally repealed in the US as per constitutional protocol and you were an American, you'd participate in a bloodbath to prevent it? And seeing that Canada has no such amendment, why are you not participating in a bloodbath in Canada to get a 2nd amendment entrenched into the Canadian constitution? Sounds like much huffing and puffing to me.
