Killing a murderer is inhuman but killing a life about to be born isn't....

The trouble is there are so many self serving people who don't regard a fetus as life, but they apparently haven't noticed there are no cases of something that is dead coming to life. (A simple acid test that lots of people choose to ignore)

Yep, as I said, you've never witnessed an execution. So, you don't really understand.

If I witnessed an execution would that make it any less justified?

For the most part I don't agree with capital punishment. However if we did execute the worst offender once a year, it would keep it in these heinous bastard's minds that when they commit a nefarious act, they could easily be a candidate for the rope or the needle.

I barely remember when. A long long time ago I needed funds to finance the political takeover of a county which I began to gather using the vegetable kingdoms hottest model at the time. I was eventually forced to surrender to a military helicopter, one friday the thirteenth, late in the afternoon.Eighteen or twenty guvment agents to took me down, eventually helicopter gunship fire convinced me to surreender. Noboody was hurt the judge went easy on me cuz I had mental problems. A bit of therapy and I was right as rain. Released on my own recognisence. What does that mean anyway?
Great insight!
You should write a book,In my world that **** happens in movies, reading others exciting adventures takes me to science fiction mindset,
Here in Alberta we have crazy Justices so I think they are more compassionate to the cause, this is a good thing, nothing like hypocritical Justices overseeing our Justice
So what now for you Darkbeaver,a business?
Good to see you are out and about!

Could I use your story for my website?

Not in my opinion. No one is forced to witness an execution except the officials in charge. Witnesses can opt out.
As long as people continue to think with their emotions society will suffer injustice.
I don't believe in using the death penalty widely as a sentence for all murders. But when a violent murderer is proven guilty beyond any reasonable doubt, by confession, eyewitness or DNA and has to be locked up, isolated from society for the rest of his life what that does is put the burden for his crimes on the rest of society. Such an individual put to death would be a blessing for all including himself.
As much as civilized people find it hard to accept, there really are evil people in the world. And as the saying goes, all it takes for evil to exist is for good men to do nothing. (paraphrased).
I don't understand the reasoning behind sympathy for the perpetrator over the plight of the victim and the lives that are ruined forever by the criminal.

I've changed my thinking on the matter a bit over the years. I agree with some who say have to live out you life when you committed a heinous crime is a punishment worse than death. You no longer have a decent friend in the world apart from possibly the parson and you never know when you are going to get shanked or beat up. You can never be sure if anything is mixed in with your food. That's just for starters.

A token execution once a year? I think that would do nothing to curb murderers or potential murderers.

They don' get shanked or beaten up. They are kept in protective custody. That's one of the reasons their care is so expensive. They get food, clothing, lodging, health care, exercise time and protection all at the expense of the society they damaged. The only hard part is the isolation.
I might feel better about it if they were put in the general prison population. Let them find out for themselves how it feels to be a 'victim'!

This isn't very political but I remember when the "Flat 50s" of cigarettes (in the tin container) were vogue, especially at Xmas time and it was more or less acceptable to present one to just about anyone for a Xmas present! :) Probably wouldn't go over today!

Ah yes, the flat 50! Those were the days when even non-smokers were civilized enough to keep cigarettes on their coffee tables to offer to guests who smoked. I don't remember that anyone ever died because of it either. :)
