Pennsylvania: Republicans Trouncing Dems In Absentee Ballots By 19 Points…

Do you believe in miracles?
Via GOP.com:
This morning President Obama’s campaign indicated they are going on the air in Pennsylvania and sending Joe Biden to the state trying to protect a state that just one week ago was considered to be safe ground. One possible reason? The enormous GOP edge in absentee ballot returns in the state, creating an enormous and unexpected hole for the President’s campaign to dig out of.

In 2008 the GOP edged the Democrats by just 2% in absentee returns. As of today the GOP’s lead is 18.8% — a 16.9% bump in a state Obama won by 10% in 2008. Republicans have turned in 55.2% of the absentee ballots to date while the Democrats have returned just 36.4%.

The Romney Victory team has been on the ground in Pennsylvania for months with over 60 staff and dozens of offices. We have made over 5 million volunteer voter contacts including over 1 million volunteer door knocks across Pennsylvania. That voter contact is paying off in the absentee ballot returns and clearly the President’s campaign sees it in their numbers. That’s why they are playing defense in the Keystone state as Governor Romney’s momentum allows us to expand the map.

The whole 'dead' vote does have some intrigue. I remember some story recently about an old vet casting an early ballot and then dying hours later. Does that vote get counted even though he isn't alive on election day? It makes one stop and think about whether it should count or not.

The vote should count- he met all the legal requirements to vote early. Can you imagine trying to find out in a close race if everyone who voted ahead had to be verified as alive on Election day.

Millions vote early.

Why are the ballots being counted not to mention disclosed before election day? The whole f'n system is rotten. I bet old Romney had kegs of beer at the entrance!

I could be wrong, but I think they're just guessing based on voter party registrations, and are not actually counting the votes. Again, I could be wrong about this too, but I think absentee ballots aren't even counted at all, unless there are more ballots than spread after the election. In other words, if on election day Romney wins Florida by 10,000 votes, and there are 2,000 absentee ballots - not enough to make a difference even if 100% of them were for Obama - the ballots never even get counted.

Again, don't quote me on that, my info could be wrong, but that's my current understanding.

I sure hope you are right, wouldn't it be a lovely bonus if there was some smart thinking happening?

Hey Nick it shouldn't even be an issue, as I bet over the long haul it would all balance out, same # of dems as reps. On the other side of the coin you have physically active brain dead people voting too, so actually a very small percentage of the votes are actually "valid" votes just as most of the candidates aren't "valid" to start with.

How many people suffered during Katrina, for three days because the Governor there...(Democrat) was too muleheaded to ask Bush for help.....the federal government cant judt go in until invited...

But you guys sure put a nice spin on it

Spin? Bush declared a state of emergency ONE day before Katrina struck. Under the Constitution's supremacy clause Feds take over, not local authorities. In fact, Michael Brown ("Brownie") resigned in disgrace because he screwed everything up. Even Republican Trent Lott said he was at fault for the mess:

Critics Call FEMA 'Second-Rate Dept Run by Political Hacks'

But, as always, blame the Democrats. Therefore, before you accuse anyone of "spin" get your facts straight.

Mittens hasn't answered any reporters questions in 22 days

Mitt Romney hasn’t given a national television interview since sitting down with Wolf Blitzer on CNN 23 days ago. He has not answered a single question from the press in 22 days. Among the requests that he has turned down, Romney has refused to answer questions from children on Nickelodeon. He has refused to be interviewed and take the questions of young voters on MTV. Romney was so terrified of The View that he canceled and sent his wife in his place. He has turned down David Letterman, and every major news network including Fox News. Bill O’Reilly has been screaming at the top of his lungs trying to get an interview with Romney before election day, but the Romney campaign made it clear on October 23 that they were scheduling no more interviews. However, this ban has also extended to the members of the press who are covering Romney everyday. The pool reporters covering Romney ask questions each day, and the candidate pretends that he doesn’t hear them. This has gone on for the last 22 days.

Union Leaders Busted Stealing Romney-Ryan Signs

Perrysburg police today issued misdemeanor citations to four men for allegedly being in possession of stolen political signs.

Those charged with receiving stolen property included John Russell, 39, of Toledo, and Chris Monaghan 41, of Rossford, who are both listed on the Sheet Metal Workers Local 33 Web site as business agents for the union’s Toledo district.

The men were in a pickup truck registered to Local 33 in Parma, Ohio, police said.

Also cited were Corey J. Beaubien, 37, and Sean Bresler, 33, both of Toledo.

A Tea Party Web site reported Friday the truck was loaded with the campaign signs of GOP Presidential nominee Mitt Romney and running mate Paul Ryan. Perrysburg police did not confirm that, but a police incident report said that the summonses were issued about 12:30 a.m. in the 11100 block of Fremont Pike “after several reports were taken of political signs being stolen in the city of Perrysburg.

Romney's campaign allies tried to make much out of Benghazigate - but that appears to be over because of this:

While the right wingers were hung up over 4 people dying in Libya, they forgot that 31 died in foreign embassies under Bush's watch. Many more were injured as well.

I don't care how much they got as much as I care how they got it. Romney got his by screwing over the average citizen which speaks volumes about his character. That is why he wouldn't get my vote. It isn't that I think BamBam is better as president, I just don't trust Mittens care about the people at all.

So you'll vote against a candidate just as many people do. Makes sense.

Few like what barry has done and hence his opposition and his rivals' (whoever that would have been if not the current guy) support.
