Yeah, but the likes of Ronnie only comes around about once in a thousand years.
...

Potential saviors are always being born, but random events must align for a savior to arise, be effective and become great. In other words, the context must exist which permits someone to act as a savior. It is almost impossible for a person to rise above the degenerate ethos of his/her/its people.

The problem for the USA is that a decadent people cannot be saved. They don't have the right stuff to permit the emergence of a hero. Only a demagogue can arise among those who are ignorant and debased.

Reagan believed in a vision of America created by his experience among a virtuous people. What made it possible for him to change history was his unwavering beliefs and the fact that he ruled the best educated and most highly skilled generation in human history.

A wonderful Persian poet, inspired by the Book of Daniel, once wrote:

"The Moving Finger writes; and, having writ,
Moves on: nor all thy Piety nor Wit
Shall lure it back to cancel half a Line,
Nor all thy Tears wash out a Word of it."

Verse 51 of Edward FitzGerald's translation of the Rubáiyát of Omar Khayyám

Rep. Steve Stockman ‏@SteveWorks4You

Boko Haram kidnap more girls. Taliban resurgent in Pakistan. Al Qaeda taking over Iraq. Obama State Dept vows to fight...carbon dioxide

Perhaps Stockman believes the USA's capitol is in the Middle East or West Africa. He should know by now that it is in Washington DC and that it is the president's job to fix the mess we have here. Let people overseas solve their own problems.

But he keeps making bigger messes in DC, too.

with a little help from his friends in the GOP ;)
Which mess did the GOP make IRS, NHS, Benghazi, obamacare, VA, NSA? BHO's been in charge for 6 years. All he's grown is food stamp recipients and disability clients.

Obama is governing without Congress. He's using the federal bureaucracy to implement his agenda. By doing so he is permitting the executive branch to assume much of the legislative power authorized by the US Constitution. The US Constitution was structured to prevent the accumulation and concentration of power. But Obama goes unchallenged. As a result a new pattern of governance has been established. All future presidents will govern in the same way...including Republican presidents. This will be Obama's greatest legacy.

For those who recognise the difference, here is a legitimate and very serious reason to pick on Obama. He's making a mockery of what little is left of the Fourth Amendment.

Insert ‘most transparent administration in history’ comment here - The Washington Post

What is truly weird is the number of people who can't tell the difference between conspiracy-theory delusion and the real things the Obama administration does that are wrong and unConstitutional.

Americans' Ratings of President Obama's Image at New Lows

More view him unfavorably than favorably

by Jeffrey M. Jones

PRINCETON, NJ -- Americans' views of President Barack Obama as a person have turned slightly negative, with 47% saying they have a favorable opinion of him and 52% an unfavorable one. That net favorable rating of -5 is the least positive personal assessment of Obama to date.
Americans have generally maintained a positive opinion of Obama personally throughout his presidency even as his job approval ratings have averaged no higher than 48% in each of his last four years in office. In addition to the current June 5-8 favorable ratings, there have been only three other times when his favorable rating did not exceed his unfavorable rating: once in October 2010, just prior to that year's midterm elections, and twice in late 2013 during the troubled rollout of major provisions of the Affordable Care Act.

In recent weeks, the president has been dogged by a scandal involving medical care for U.S. military veterans at Veterans Affairs hospitals as well as the controversy surrounding the release of Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl. These events to date do not appear to have dragged down his job approval rating in Gallup Daily tracking. However, they may be having a slight negative impact on his personal image.

In addition to his lower favorable rating, Americans now rate Obama less positively on each of six personal characteristics Gallup asked about than they did last year. The declines are not large, ranging from two percentage points on being "a strong and decisive leader" since last November to six points on "understanding the problems Americans face in their daily lives." But on all six dimensions, the public's ratings of Obama are now below the majority level and are the worst Gallup has measured for him to date.

actually, 18 million people agree: Obamacare has expanded social services - now they get the same coverage Fortune 500 employees have had all along

... And they as individuals right along with society still can't afford it.

Obama is the American version of Pierre Trudeau.... We are still literally paying for his blunders to this very day
