Anna...you do understand that critisizing both Obama AND George Dubya sends folks into sensory overload.

You are a far right wing religious nut as well as a left wing moonbat Obama lover.
Yeah, life's a hemorrhoid sometimes. It's tough being stuck between the cheeks. lol

Ron, if you want examples, I can think of Charles McVety, the leader of Canadian religious right. Randy White would be another (he wants to use Notwithstanding Clause every time courts overrule the Conservative government). Stockwell Day would be the third (he is a creationist; he believes that universe was created 5000 years ago in six days, by the Christian God).

Really??? Stock is a creationist??? Whoa, the things you learn on the forum. I knew he had 'religious' tendencies, but not that he would actually support such a stupid theory. 8O Maybe I should send him a copy of the decision by Judge E. Jones III in the Kitzmiller vs. Dover School Board case. ;-)

I tend to watch a few US news stations and will never forget the day I happened upon Obama announcing his run for the Presidency. I knew nothing about him at that time.

I still remember listening to him, completely spellbound by his oratory, his ease of phrase and flow of words. He inspired me with his words, Canadian that I am. He captured my attention that day and I followed his campaign to the end.

I believe that he truly wants to change the US into the 'kindler, gentler' nation that George Bush Sr. spoke of but did nothing about. Yet he is faced with almost insurmountable problems, many of them inherited from the dick-head who preceded him. It will be interesting to see how he handles these problems over time and whether or not he is able to sway Americans enough that they embrace a less militaristic stance in the world.

But then, that's just my opinion. ;-)

It has been well known that Stockwell Day is a Creationists, Mowich. When he was Alliance leader, he received plenty of ridicule for that. Stockwell day is a self professed Fundamentalist Christian. He believes all the concepts, creed etc. associated with Fundamentalism.

So yes, as a Fundamentalist, Day believes that earth was created 5000 years ago in six days.

I'm Canadian. We don't have a Republican Party. One would think think that, if you wanted to post on a forum called "Canadian Content", you would have a bit of an understanding of Canada (especially after four years)

You obviously are a Republican because you keep defending them as strenuously as you do. Obviously, you do not understand American politics very well so I am not saying you are a Yank who is Republican. Just a wannabe.

''Gopher, your system and our system are fundamentally different; you vote for the best candidate, we vote for the best party.''

You will note that I make very, VERY few comments about Canadian politics as I don't know diddly squat about it. Some of your fellow Canadians comment on our politics and try to palm themselves off as experts on the subject. Unfortunately, they rely too much on Fox and other right wing sources. Therefore, they get a very distorted picture of what Yanky politics are all about.

Obviously, you know your stuff and that is why some of the far right critics here attack you as often as they do.

But, keep up the good work.

Good grief. Really, I am at a loss for words.:scratch:

Thank you for the enlightenment, SirJP.

I have lived in USA for several years, Gopher (1971 to 1978 ) , so I know firsthand how your system works. I was there when they were conducting impeachment hearings against Nixon, I watched them on television. I lived in Salt Lake City, Ann Arbor and Cincinnati.

I am intimately acquainted with American system of government.

Actually, EagleSmack, as I recall there were no teleprompters in site that day. Obama stood behind a simple wooden dias with nary a prompter in site, he had notes but rarely was seen looking at them. The lack of prompters was one of the reasons that I was so 'spellbound.' ;-)

The White House's unprecedented use of 'unprecedented'
By: Carol E. Lee
November 25, 2009 12:54 AM EST

The Obama White House is addicted to the “unprecedented.”

Perhaps it was a sign when President Barack Obama sat down in January to record his first weekly address and announced: “We begin this year and this administration in the midst of an unprecedented crisis that calls for unprecedented action."

What has followed is declaration after declaration of “unprecedented” milestones. Some of them are legitimate firsts, like the president’s online town hall at the White House in May.

But others the president wins merely on a technicality, and several clearly already have precedents.

The White House’s announcement of its unprecedented — “a first by an American president visiting China” — town hall meeting with students in Beijing, for instance, drew a collective eye roll in certain circles back home, namely among former aides to President George W. Bush, who had already been grumbling about Obama’s carefree application of “unprecedented.”

“I think I attended a town hall with President Bush in China,” former Bush adviser Karen Hughes quipped with a laugh, recalling a 2002 Bush speech in Beijing at which he took questions from the audience. “I thought: Were they asleep? Or were they dreaming? I remember standing and watching President Bush engage in a town hall that I believe was televised.”

President Bill Clinton also took questions from Chinese students at an event during a trip to the country in 1998, then did a radio call-in show in Shanghai the next day.

To quote SJP:
"After all, the far right calls the most vile, nasty, filthy names to Obama, the hate him with a passion. Why? Because Obama is important to their lives, their lives revolve around what Obama says, what Obama does."

Isn't that exactly what Obama and the left wing want to happen. Make our lives so dependent upon the goverment and President Obama that we cannot see anything but them. The calling of names is just a act of frustration because we made a big mistake by voting him in and now just have to wait out our mistake.
