"There is the world of difference between republican party of pre civil rights days and post civil rights days."- So "Civil Rights" had a detrimental impact.

Indeed it did JLM, on the Republican party. All the segregationists in the south were mad at the Democratic Party for supporting Civil Rights legislation and other civil rights initiatives (voting rights act etc.), so they drifted to Republican party en masse.

Before the 70s, the South used to vote overwhelmingly Democratic. Indeed, there was a saying in Texas, that there will never be enough Republicans in Texas to hold a primary. These days, it is exactly the opposite, there are not enough Democrats in Texas to hold a primary. The governor, both the senators and majority of House members from Texas are Republican.

These days Republican party is the party of God, the party of intolerance. It didn’t use to be that way.

So what? Texas is one of the most ethnically diverse states in the union. Using your silly arguments, one would think minorities would be fleeing Texas. Epic fail as usual Joey.
Yup, it's SOP for Joke.

I do see one intolerant party here, but I would never suggest who it might be, as the intolerant party might go crying to daddy about being insulted.

HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a laughable article. How could that clown forget Reagan and the two Bush's????

The desperation shown by the far right Obama & America haters has surpassed anything I've seen in all my years of observing politics. It is just pathetic!

Isn't it amazing how the far right hates it when someone attacks Palin but love it when they attack Obama?

What hypocrisy!

But how convenient of them to ignore the fact that Palin is attacked more by Republicans than by anyone else.

Sorry, my friend, but Ronald Reagan's presidency was far from a failure..........flawed, yes, but not failed. Would you like a list of his accomplishments???? Beginning with the first serious reductions of nuclear arms????

Neither was George Sr's a hardcore failure, although not a great presidency....now you might have a point with Dubya... :)

As for Obama.....he is simply not doing well.
He looked like an ass in China.......an errand boy seeking favours from the Middle Kingdom. BIG mistake.

Spending WAY too much money, one of Dubya's greatest faults....you CAN'T have both guns and butter.....make a decision.

But mostly his problem is the vastly inflated expectations of him....no man could have lived up to them.....I actually feel sorry for the guy. He is in an impossible position.

...I don't belong to either party...

Probably because you can't afford a membership? It's quite clear you are 100% behind Obama. If I were you, I wouldn't embarrass myself pretending otherwise. Besides, the way you talk about Republican supporters, it's pretty clear you are lying.

Reagan?

Huge deficit, unemployment, arming of Saddam, arming fascist governments in Central America which caused the deaths of over 200,000 Ixil Indians, etc. Wanna hear some more??

Bush I? Bush II? You cannot be serious if you think these were successes.

.

Huge deficit, yes.

Unemployment fell dramatically throughout the last years of Reagan's term from its high point in 1983 . You are dead wrong on this.

A few millions to Saddam.....very few.....if you want to cry about the arming of Saddam.....you have to cry about China, Russia, Germany, and France.....all of whom were many, many times more involved than the USA.

Actions in Central America were atrocious....in keeping with historical US foreign policy in the region. Not nice.

All of the negatives fade to insignificance though, when compared to the defeat of the Soviet Union, for which Reagan was largely responsible.
