The rich will still get richer and the poor will get poorer and Obama will keep on smiling all they way to the bank.
That is the Republican specialty, ironsides. Rich get richer and the poor get poorer under Republican administrations (which is the usual result of spending cuts and tax cuts).

Under Clinton, everybody prospered. Under Bush, the rich got richer, the poor got poorer.

SJP - Nope - Figured you or someone else would add to the list - But the facts of division in the US speak towards what I have brought forward - Anything in particular ( Point) that I made that you disagree with?

The Democrats are just as or richer than the Republicans. It is what politicians do, rob from their constituents.

Jobless recovery, like being almost pregnant.

Give it time, ironsides. Unemployment takes time to come down, it is the last piece of the recovery. If a year from now unemployment is where it is today (or even higher), then it could properly be called a jobless recovery, but it is very premature at present.

Tell that to the millions who are unemployed. Not sure if you knew or not, but a person on unemployment insurance is counted in the stats as unemployed, when those benefits run out (6 months to a year depending) that same person is off the unemployment rolls, even though they are still without work. In the U.S. it is possible for every person to be out of work and yet we would show no unemployment. That 9-11% you read about is not even close.

But of course, Gopher. It is a well documented fact that stock market performs much better under a Democratic President than under a Republican President.

Let us consider Clinton and Bush. When Clinton came to power, I don’t remember exactly where the stock market was, but I think DOW was between 3000 and 4000. When Clinton left office, DOW was around 10,000.

In comes Bush. At the beginning, DOW was around 10,000. When Bush left after 8 years, DOW was still around 10,000. I think DOW was actually lower when Bush left the office than when he came to office.

Not only stock market, but they have looked at all the economic indicators, such as inflation unemployment, budget deficit etc. all those indicators performed better under Democratic Presidents. I think Republican presidents had a slight advantage only when it came to inflation.

So what is your point, ironsides? Isn’t that the way unemployment is traditionally measured in USA? Or do you want to change the method now to show a huge, sudden jump in unemployment?

In fact, unemployment is a tough nut to crack. Even when the economy starts producing jobs, the unemployment still may not come down for some time. The reason is that when the economy starts producing jobs, many of the job seekers who had got discouraged and gave up looking for job, taken up studies etc.; enter the job market once again. So drop in unemployment comes a few months after the economy starts producing jobs.

Inflation was worse under Bush but the Republican regime skewed the numbers.

You've said a mouthful, but you're right it's a lot to do with semantics. I say forget these unemployed stats and percentages, every month just give us the number of people that are working (along with the population). Another problem I have is that E.I. has to fund itself, like any other insurance, if you are taking more out of it than you are contributing, then you are getting something for nothing and that just will not work. I get rather frustrated with Obama's struggle with health care. He can only do what the people want, if the individual wants better health care he has to pay for it one way or the other.

Before there were governments, the caveman lived like an animal.
People still live like animals. In case you've let your head swell into thinking humans aren't animals, here's the taxonomic classification of the human being. Pay close attention to the top of the list right after the word "kingdom"):
Domain: Eukarya
Kingdom: Animalia
Phylum: Chordata
Superclass: Tetrapoda
Class: Mammalia
Infraclass: Eutheria
Order: Primates
Suborder: Haplorrhini
Infraorder: Simiiformes
Parvorder: Catarrhini
Superfamily: Hominoidea
Family: Hominidae
Subfamily: Homininae
Tribe: Hominini
Genus: Homo
Species: H. sapiens
Subspecies: H. s. sapiens

Show it like it is, people should be counted among the unemployed until they have a job or opt. to have their name removed (retired etc.). The numbers they are showing now are phony.
