We've gone through this before - Bush spent considerably more on himself and had far longer vacations.

I don't recall Bush sending all his family and a dozen of their little friends on Spring Break vacation to a Mexican resort; with the full compliment of Secret Service personnel in attendance.

Really gopher, how do you justify this?

I was looking at Obama's Inauguration speech yesterday and have to say it looks like we're in for another 4 years of the lacklustre, meandering leadership we saw in the first term.

His chief focus seemed to be homosexual rights, and AGW, both graven and false idols of our time. He completely ignored the pressing economic crises with which America and the world are faced.. the disenfranchisement of rights of labour and unions, the utter failure of the Free Market paradigm, the malignant and entrenched power of a criminal class of parasitic Wall Street Financiers and Global Traders.. who seem to have him in their back pocket.

Obama is no FDR, who used his second Inaugural address to commit himself to throwing the Money Changers out of the Temple. There was some recognition of the dire straits of the American economy.. the polarization of wealth, the death of the Middle Class.. but absolutely no remedies were presented. It seems he will spend his second term chasing phantom issues.. while the corrosion at the foundations of American society continues unabated.

The first 'black President' has in fact been a major disappointment. He is floundering in confusion and pettiness and setting priorities that are absurd and destructive. He has in fact betrayed both his party and his race by casting aside the economic populism of FDR, JFK, LBJ.. for some New Age globalist economic claptrap that has no more chance of succeeding in the future than it has in the past.

A failure.. in the tradition of every Presidency of either party for the last 40 years.. in a country searching for a Great President.. and coming up with clowns and posers instead.

Reporter: Press Corps Following Obama So Overcome In His Presence They “Lose Their Minds”…

Rolling Stone reporter Michael Hastings, author of the BuzzFeed special book on the 2012 campaign Panic 2012, joined Martin Bashir on Thursday where he revealed that journalists who covered President Barack Obama during the campaign were sometimes so overcome by his presence that they would “lose their minds” and behave in “juvenile” and “amateurish” ways. Among other anecdotes, Hastings admitted that he once had the opportunity to ask the president hard questions, but was so similarly moved by his presence that he only asked “soft” questions.

Court: Obama appointments are unconstitutional

Appeals court panel rules Obama recess appointments to labor board are unconstitutional

WASHINGTON (AP) -- In a setback for President Barack Obama, a federal appeals court ruled Friday that he violated the Constitution in making recess appointments last year, a decision that could severely curtail the president's ability to bypass the Senate to fill administration vacancies.

The three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit said Obama did not have the power to make three recess appointments to the National Labor Relations Board because the Senate was officially in session — and not in recess — at the time. If the decision stands, it could invalidate hundreds of board decisions made over the past year.

The court also ruled that the president could only make recess appointments if the openings arise when the Senate is in an official recess, which it defined as the once-a-year break between sessions of Congress.

White House press secretary Jay Carney said the administration strongly disagrees with the decision and that the NLRB would continue to conduct business as usual, despite calls by some Republicans for the board members to resign.

According to a report I saw on CNBC (or was it CNN) they're not worried - a precedence has been set by prior Administrations so when they take it to the Supreme Court, the appointments will likely stand.

Yeah, I hear that he's hired half of Hollywood's entertainers to make it a big event.

I guess that he just isn't that big enough a draw on his own.

They literally shut down 1/2 of Dulles airport so that all the private jets coming in for the inaguration could have a place to land. Unbelievable!!

I think it's time people got used to the idea that Obama is "in there" and "in there" he'll be for the next four years, BECAUSE the majority of people want him there......................that's called a democracy...............get used to it.
