Did De Gaul criticize a former Prime Minister? I seriously doubt that. And I also don't think that Pearson would have asked him to butt out if he had done that. Criticizing a former president is totally different from a foreign politician interfering in Canada's (or USA's) internal affairs.
As to non Americans criticizing US president, past or present, it happens many times. Conservatives in other countries (Britain, Australia etc.) routinely criticize Obama. Same as liberals in other countries used to criticize Bush, when he was the president. A non American criticizing US president is nothing new.

Pearson who, unlike your BOY Zerobama had the guts to tell a jerk to get the Hell out. The fact that DeGaulle did not criticize a former Prime Minister is not the issue. Unless economy is really in the tank come 2012, Obama has a very good chance of getting elected. Republican Party is united by their hatred of Obama in 2010, and that may be enough in 2010
However, all the divisions in the Republican Party (and there are many) will be revealed in all their ugliness when they have to formulate a vision for the party and vision for the country in 2012.

The unwritten rule is that people criticize president and ex presidents all the time. It is a sure sign of extremism that Republicans want special treatment for Bush, they want him to be made exempt from all criticism.
The day Republicans start treating Obama with dignity and respect, that is the day people will listen when they demand special treatment for Bush. Until then these are just ravings of a right wing extremist.
And what has that got to do with anything? McCartney still has a right to criticize Bush.

When was there ever a time that liberals/Democrats showed any respect for George W. Bush. Or for that matter Ronald Reagan?
