Anyone who agrees with His Royal Idiocy, and blames real or perceived water shortages on people who eat beef, veal or for that matter any meat is, just like his Royal Highness, a certifiable idiot.

It's not his fault he's just the end product of too much incest.

I think Marie Antoinette came up with a similar theme, but she came up a little short in the end!

I often question the phrase "wasting water"!

Having grown up in a house with a well, I don't question the phrase 'wasting water', I know what it's like to have to wait for 4 or 12 hours to be able to get any water, because someone else in the house was wasting water.

The article title is misleading.

He's criticizing the way livestock is produced.

There is a trend to replace industrial agriculture with organic agriculture. The latter can actually yield more crops and livestock and is better for the environment.

The production level remains the same or more. The eating level remains the same more. The amount you poop out remains the same or more.

The only one actually claiming that Americans need to eat less is the author of that article. He quoted a UN statistic. Charles didn't actually say that in his speech..

"Americans eat more than 41kg of beef a year on average, according to the UN, almost twice that consumed by Britons and four times the international average. "

Here's a link to the article:
Prince Charles tells America to cut down on steaks ... for the sake of the world - Telegraph

Well, then the prissy little punk should cut down on his own beef consumption. Not bloody likely!

How does a free-loading drone, whose only claim to fame is coming to this world through the "right" hole, have the right or authority to preach about anything?

I know what you mean, I grew up in similar circumstances. I was referring to the world wide picture.

The very same argument can be applied to the production of fruits and veggies. In fact, considering that fruits/veggies have a much higher water content and they will need more water to actually grow the plant structure as compared to grains/grasses; one can make the argument that a vegetarian diet is environmentally unsound.

That said, don't rail at

The Royals have trouble with plebs eating anything at all.

Vladimir Ilitch Lenin, and Bolsheviks, where are you now that the world needs you?

I'm having some delicious steaks for supper tomorrow. I was thinking of inviting Prince Charles, but then I read this. Oh well. More tastiness for me.:)

Speaking at the the Future of Food conference at Georgetown University in Washington, the Prince said that the need for vast amounts of irrigation in industrialised food production was threatening to deplete reserves of the "magical substance we have taken for granted for so long". ......

Instead.... LET THEM EAT CAKE!

Oh wait, that was tried already and some royal snob got their head lopped off.

How about royalty stay out of the affairs of what us humble peasants eat?

Let them eat royalty!

Actually, the way we produce food is unsustainable and doing considerable harm to the environment, but then with the population multiplying uncontrollably we will eat ourselves out of house and home long before the Earth goes tits up.
