Actually, she was only 12 when she flashed her boobs over a web cam. It was done upon request by someone she thought was another teen. As it turns out the guy at the other end was an adult and used the captures to make her life a living hell when she refused to do it again or to do more.

I look at how my girl turned into a smart, balanced, gorgeous woman and I ask myself "how the hell did I pull that off in this world?"

Exactly, that's why you have to teach your kids not to expose themselves on the internet.

By and large most kids here do turn out fine in the long run.

Indeed. We cant really expect 12 year old to look at these issues the same way an adult would. They have no experience with them, they lack a lot of maturity in many areas and puberty has likely just started. They'll be very hormonal and irrational on these issues. A 12 year old isnt looking 2-5 years ahead. Even telling them not to do it is no guarantee that they wont. Kids break rules and do stupid things. Its part of being a kid. Had she sent this pic to the person she thought she was sending it to its unlikely that it would have dragged on this long and ended the way it did. The blame belongs to the man who did this, not the child.

... there are many subjects that the news media cannot deal with rationally, this being one of them. if you're on the web then you know that cyber-bullying is perfectly normal and to be expected. seems like the media just clued in ...

Give us the (short) list of subjects you can deal with rationally.

If you're 12 you're probably not going to expect it or think its normal.

This wasnt a troll on a discussion board or chat room. It was an adult taking advantage of and manipulating a child. You can maybe expect it but it is far from normal. Particularly when it results in the death of a child and involves nude pictures of said child in the hands of an adult.

... the internet has been a part of the lives of most 12-year-olds, they know what it's all about ...

... and be sure to show us the evidence proving that someone actually did something to this individual ...

... the government is supremely guilty of harassing a lot of people and it's pointing the finger at the internet as a defense-mechanism ...

when she flashed her breasts, the parents should have taken away her internet privileges. if that had happened, she wouldn't have been able to read the nasty comments. at least at home.

Actually, her parents should have taught her some sense and self respect long before that.

If she was exposing herself over the internet, she was missing something from her parents.

Unfortunately.

I've also reported it. Suggesting that we should be posting child pornography is a definite no no.

... you guys are just sore because she was a hot native chick. what a bunch of total racists ...

Every dog has his day.

The main lesson is to teach your daughters not to expose their breasts on the internet.

No good will come from that.

Many parents do not know or will not put the kids computer in a common room- No web cam- And monitor it-
